POV: First person, Y/n

I heard voices coming from below.

"Neteyam! Y/n," shouted someone, from below.

I jolted up and so did Neteyam.

"Did we ended up sleep here, when we were walking," Neteyam asked.

"I suppose so," I quickly got up, "hurry or we will make your people worry more," I held out my hand. He takes it happily.

We arrived back at the cave system, unscathed. Jake quickly came running at us, checking if his som was okay. After that, yelling came in.

"Neteyam was is wrong with you? We were just attacked not that long ago. And you think of sneaking out to do something," Jake shouted.

"Father- I can explain," Neteyam put his hands out.

"Boy, haven't you learned about the dangers? What made you two think about sneaking out," Jake's fist clenched, and gritted his teeth.

"I- I apologize it was my-," I interrupted him.

"It was my idea, I wasn't feeling well. So I wanted to go on a walk... I told him to join me," I looked towards Neteyam. His worry eyes looked back at his father, not wanting him to harm me.

"No- no no, Y/n- let me explain," I interrupted him again but instead covered his mouth, "Mmph-,"

"I apologize for putting your son in danger," I looked down, with a small smile.

Jake sighed, "I know that you've been protecting him well, but please remember what's the dangers are," he turned away, "get ready we're leaving in 30 minutes,"

When he was away, Neteyam pushed my hand away, aggressively, "Y/n! Why would you blame yourself? I was the one who wanted to join you," he pointed to himself.

"Neteyam, it's fine.. besides a part of it is the truth, I still allowed you to join me," I shrugged and grinned, "Your father cares about you a lot, so just take it," I patted his head.

"Come on we have to get ready," I ran to my tent.

"Y/n," I heard him shout from behind, "you need to stop covering for me, protecting me... you've done so much for me and I haven't done anything for you," he stopped me.

"Neteyam," yells out his father.

I careless his cheek and smiled, "let's... discuss this when we get back...," I let go him and got ready. I felt him stare at me from behind. I know he feels bad but I'm always independent... I don't know how to depend on someone, when you are always independent. It's quite a instinct to watch over someone and not ask for help from others.

I hugged Spider goodbye, "I still don't know what his choice was, but I will find out, okay," I smiled at him.

He nodded, "you are a good friend," he smiled back, "it's fate that will decide, just like you said,"

"Alright you kids ready," Jake turn to us.

"Yes sir," Neteyam said, hopping on his Ikran. I nodded and mimic his actions.

Jake, Neteyam and I know were heading back to the Metkayina. We waved the Omatikaya people goodbye. I especially waved to Spider and Mo'at.

And then we set off. Our ikrans roared and flew out of the cave. Neteyam and I followed Jake's calls and hand signals.

Some points we had to let our ikrans take a break. Neteyam did not speak to me the entire time, but I did see him glance at me sometimes. Probably to check if I was alright. He only spoke to his father.

Sometimes I could hear Neteyam whisper something to his father, which made my heart warm.

"Father can you ask if she's alright," Neteyam asked his father in his place.

Jake chuckled a bit, "you be a man, and ask," he said while giving Bob water.

Neteyam groaned, "father please, we are not at the right place right now," he crossed his arms.

"Okay okay," he said.

While we had our third break, for the ikrans, I felt the same feeling on my shoulders. Weigh was put on them, making me lightheaded.

When did I become so weak? Is it the side affects? What a headache.

I stared at the void, sweat was on my forehead and my breathing was heavier. Neteyam heard this and immediately came up to me. So did Jake too and followed behind.

"Y/n? Are you okay? Your skin has gotten lighter...," he check my forehead.

"I- I'm fine just tired," I responded slowly, feeling dizzy. My legs couldn't stand any longer. I almost fell to the ground but Neteyam caught me in time.

"Y/n? My gem.. not only are you tired but sick too," he held me closer, "dad what should we do," his voice was quivering again.

"Don't worry, I got this," Jake nodded and got a cloth and cold water. Pouring the water on the cloth, then resting it on my forehead, "Meh'ki will fly on his own, while you hold on to Y/n, okay,"

He nodded and carried me to his Ikran, "you can sleep, take it easy, Y/n... please don't be stubborn and try to get up,"

"Okay...," my eyes slowly closing, "I'll sleep then," I saw him smile.

"Good," he then peck me on the cheek.
