— THE MORNING SUN filtered through the classroom's windows over the horizon of the mountain, a single shard of amber light cascading upon the surface of my desk and bathing it in warmth. at the conclusion of fourth period, midnight — whip still twirling around her finger — dismissed us with a light smirk, sauntering out the door with slow clicks of her heels.
i shoved my textbooks into my bag, sparing a glance to the viridian-haired boy beside me, "are you gonna eat lunch with us, today?"
"ah... i have to study... for... for the physics test later this week, so i'll be... in the library!" izuku replied.
"oh, well, could i—"
"no! i — i mean, uh, no. sorry, i need to study alone," he gulped, eyes flashing away as he pulled his bright yellow backpack around his shoulders, "to — to be with my, uh, feelings."
my eyebrows furrowed, "um... okay."
ochaco, who didn't even attempt the fruitless task of zipping up her massive pile of books, grinned. "it's okay, sydney! they're serving katsudon today — your favorite!"
the brunette pressed her hand to the bottom of the pile as the stack elicited a bubblegum pink shine, each textbook instantly weightless. then, she wrapped her arm around them to keep each one from floating to the ceiling, proceeding to clasp her free hand around my wrist and tug me down the aisle. behind us, iida pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose as he engaged in a passionate discussion with yaoyorozu concerning the upcoming festival.
my focus shifted as i glanced back at the two before our stride was abruptly stopped upon finding the door blocked.
the hallway was crammed full of our fellow underclassmen, students from the support, business, and general education courses alike clustered in front of our classroom's doorframe. although their sour expressions were clearly meant to provoke a sense of intimidation, it was superseded by the sheer sense of confusion that settled around us.
ochaco sputtered, "um... why the heck are you all here?!"
"excuse me," iida exclaimed, scooting in front of us and chopping the air in authority, "do you students have some sort of business with our class—?"
he was cut off by mineta, who'd immediately leapt up and jabbed an accusing finger at the group in front of us. "why are you blocking our doorway? i won't let you hold us hostage!"
tsu stood beside him, "where was all this confidence when we were getting attacked by villains?"
with a scoff, bakugo shoved our three-foot-tall classmate aside, stepping in front with a sharp glare. "their scouting out the competition, idiots. we're the class that survived a real villain attack—"
