THE MOON WAS high in the sky, its beams of light seeping through the thin curtains of the common area when the five of us work-study students returned to the dorms. after finally making up all the work we'd missed with aizawa, both our backpacks and eyes were heavy, but all the tiredness was quickly shaken away as soon as our classmates practically screamed at us their ideas.

"rave rock club music? that's what we're doing for our performance?" tsu's head tilts.

kirishima nodded alone, rubbing his eyes. "i can see having jiro on the bass, and yaoyorozu on keyboards... but..."

"... bakugo on the drums is kind of, uh, how do i put it...?" ochaco smiled sheepishly.

"shut up!" katsuki yelled.

"— question, who'll be singing?" tsu said. "isn't that the most important thing?"

jiro rubs the back of her neck, her eyes flitting down to the floor self-consciously. "we... haven't figured that part out yet."

"doesn't it have to be you, jiro?" i said.

jiro gulped. "uh—"

"lead singers get all the chicks!" mineta exclaimed, grabbing a microphone, "i could do it!"

aoyama snatches the mic from him with a flourish, smiling, "just imagine the singing disco ball! c'est magnifique!"

"guys, not to brag, but i'm a pretty awesome singer!" kirishima snatched the mic from aoyama, striking a dramatic pose and singing into it, "tough guy, captain of the ship, stand up tall, 'cause you are the manliest!"

"yeah, that's not the right genre." ochaco said.

mineta snatches the microphone back and begins screeching into it, mimicking a bird call and causing everyone to cover their ears as the speakers ring.

"nah, that's just yelling!" mina cried.

aoyama took the microphone from mineta and vocalized with a bright smile on his face, but it sounded more like a strangled gasp for breath from a dying chicken.

"jeez..." i said, my palms still covering my ears as i turned to jiro, "yeah, it's gotta be you."

"when you were teaching us how to play instruments in your room, your singing was super cool! i know you'll bring the house down!" hagakure cheered.

jiro winced, "come on... it wasn't that great... maybe we should..."

"hey, look!" scarlet energy twirls around the microphone and steals it from aoyama, floating right in front of jiro's face. "come on!"
