- THE LIGHTS IN the fairly small anteroom dimmed, large scoreboards flickering with life as they change to show an overhead view of the stadium. as everyone's halfway through turning around, explosions ricochet through all the structures and send them crashing down, dust and debris flying up and to the screen.
[ "there's only one more round to the exam. your goal is simple: undertake rescue exercises and save the bystanders who are trapped in these disaster sites. use this time to show us how you will carry out successful rescue procedures once you receive your provisional licenses. treat this as though it were the real thing." ]
izuku runs a hand through his hair, eyes narrowing. "rescuing..."
the screen shows people littered with various injuries swatting the smoke and coughing dramatically, flopping down onto the ground.
[ "these specialists have been trained as professional persons in need of rescue." ]
one of the actors grins as the camera focuses on him, giving us a thumbs-up.
[ "they're very popular. introducing, the help us company. also known as HUC for short. the HUC bystanders are dressed up as injured victims and will be located around the disaster site. we'll be judging how you keep them safe as you go on about your mission. oh, by the way, we'll be scoring you on a point system. if you have more points than the benchmark at the time the exercise comes to an end, then you pass the exam. we'll start in ten minutes, take care of any necessary preparations now." ]
"this looks familiar." iida says, stepping forward to stand next to izuku and i. his eyes drift from us to the screen, displaying pictures of the destruction.
"yeah, like kamino ward." izuku says, "maybe that's what they based it off of."
he nods, his voice dropping from its normal pitch. "it's true that the situations are similar, but our only goal then was to rescue suzuki and bakugo from the villains. we let the pros handle search and recovery. and, you'll recall, there were many casualties."

my head felt scrambled, like someone had taken all my thoughts and put them in a blender, then cooked it over the stove on medium heat, and served it cold.
as the screen faded to black, everyone dispersed to do their own thing for the ten minutes we had until the room would eventually collapse once again. elbows resting on a table, it covered my eyes with my palms in hopes the darkness would make everything else go away.
