- "HERO WORK STUDIES are a more serious version of your internships." aizawa sighed, looking down at us with his usual disapproving glare. "your teachers and the principal discussed them at the faculty meeting, and we all agree... it's too soon, they should really be cancelled."

"cancelled?!"

the class erupts into anger-driven yells, the loud sounds of people's palms slamming onto desks filling the classroom as everyone stands up dramatically and protests, all while katsuki punches the air triumphantly.

"i didn't finish." aizawa drawled.

the class falls silent.

"some people think we won't be able to raise strong heroes with that sort of protective outlook, and with that in mind, the compromise is to be selective about participating agencies. so, choose one with a proven track record. otherwise, you won't be taking part."

katsuki freezes, grumbling as he sits back down, "DAMN IT!"

before anyone can interrupt again, the bell rings, and another long and slow sigh comes from our teacher. he waves his hand dismissively, taking out his bright yellow sleeping bag. "alright, get out."

"an agency with a good track record of work studies..." izuku murmurs.

i zip up my backpack, pull it over my shoulders, and shift to stand by his desk, waiting for him to finish packing up his things. "maybe we could talk to all might about sir nighteye."

"we?" izuku pauses, his head slowly turning up to me. "you want to do your work study with me?"

"yes?" i said, twirling the straps of my backpack around my finger. "unless you'd rather not... i mean, you don't have to do it with me, i was just thinking..."

"no, i wanna." izuku quickly interrupted, his eyes still wide with surprise. "i just thought you were mad at me."

my lips part, but it takes more than a few moments for words to come out as i continue to gaze at him. "mad at you? why would i be mad at you?"

"well... you've been acting a bit different lately."

i continue to stare, my stomach twisting as it's my turn to interrupt. "i'm not mad at you."

"really?" his eyes flicker up to mine, the frown turning up to a smile. it's not long before he's laughing softly, the hand that was nervously rubbing the back of his neck dropping down to his side. "that's a relief."
