SCHOOL FESTIVAL ARC
— # part threecontent warnings: mentioned injury.
— AS WEEKS PASSED, preparations continued, and we finally set up the stage in the gym. it was the final night before the school festival began, the loud yells of stage directions echoing around as we all rehearsed once again.
i tapped my foot against the floor of the gymnasium, gazing absentmindedly at the tile. my fingers curled and danced along with the scarlet energy that kept aoyama to the ceiling as we practiced.
then, my eyes flitted up to where izuku was standing on the stage, and i didn't feel like looking anywhere else.
"mon chéri!" aoyama exclaimed, "i'm falling!"
scarlet energy dances around my fingertips and shines around the harness and white rope, bringing him back up to the ceiling.
"sorry!" i said.
aoyama's arms and legs flail around like a fish taken out of water before they rest and he begins twirling around gracefully once again. once surveying that the blond was safe and no longer falling to his death (or, a very aggressive and disturbing face plant) my head turned back to the stage.
"five, six, seven, eight!" mina yelled, cupping her hands around her lips. "move it! move it like an idol!"
the aggressive sound of the entrance's double doors hitting and ricocheting off the walls, however, forced me to whip around and cover my ears.
"it's already nine o'clock!" hound dog yelled angrily, banging a clenched fist on the metal door for emphasis on his words. "students should've cleared out of the gym by now!"
"shit!" kirishima yelled, "okay, everybody out!"
—
"woo!" denki exclaimed, "i can't sleep!"
"yeah, right? i'm crazy excited!" mineta cheered.
with half of class a tucked into their beds and sleeping soundly, the other half was currently residing on the ground floor for the final preparations as the clock ticked closer to midnight. the two of them ran in a circle, cheering and fist-pumping the air.
"i just hope the audience will be that enthusiastic..." iida sighed.
jiro let out a soft exhale, closing her eyes as if to calm her own anxiety, "it's probably better if we don't think about it very much. being embarrassed, worrying about what others are thinking, that'll kill our vibe. we should focus on having fun. that's what really matters—"
