Alina's POV

We walked into the ballroom and it was filled with different vampires. All vampires from the highest of prestige have come to witness a business transaction. Everyone was dressed in black tie attire and looking really good but I really don't care. I wonder if Sorin is nearby.

"Remember to keep your mouth shut," Maddox snarls at me.

"Watch your mouth," I snarl back. Just then, Mom and Father came up to us.

"Maddox. Alina. You both look great. Maddox, I hope you understand where we are at now after our talk last night." Talk? What the hell?

"Yes, sir. I do apologize for my outburst. Our kingdom, the woman are more subdued."

"That's fine and all but this is my daughter we are talking about. She is not some common whore and you will not treat her as such. I'm giving you the world. Don't mistreat it." Then, Father went up to the podium and tapped on the microphone. 

"Welcome, all! We thank you for coming and spending your evening with us! First, I would like to congratulate my daughter on finding her mate. It has been a long time coming. They will be joining their kingdoms and reigning together as husband and wife! Please, give a warm welcome to my daughter, Alina Tatiana Oliveira, and her mate, Maddox Ion Martor!" What the hell!? Maddox yanked me to the podium and raised our hands, smiling. I put on a fake smile and waved to the crowd. We walked back down and everyone swarmed us.

"Alina, it is so nice for you to finally meet your mate! You must so excited!"

"I can't wait for you to give us some grandchildren. I can see them now! Your beautiful black hair with brownish-red eyes! Oh, they would be darling!"

"Speaking of children, when are you going to be bumping in the sheets? I don't smell her on you."

Who the hell do these people think they are?! It is absolutely none of their business! 

"Well, she's the one waiting to wait until we get to my kingdom but I can never stay away from her for too long if you know what I mean!" He pinched my cheek and chuckled loudly with everyone. I am going to kill him. Yes, killing him slowly is what needs to happen.

For the next 4 hours, I was subjected to compliments, well wishes, kisses, hugs, and prayers from everyone. I couldn't tell you how excited I was for everyone to leave me the fuck alone afterward. And during all of that, I didn't see one lick of Sorin. My heart was defeated. I wanted to see him. He is my mate after all. What happened to we will be together? Ha, poppycock.

Once the ball was over, Maddox grabbed my arm and tugged me towards the stairs. 

"What the hell do you think you are doing?! Unhand me, at once!" I exclaim. I fought him off and shoved him against the wall. I slapped him to the ground and rushed to my room. He caught my ankle and I fell. I braced my hands so I didn't go face first. He quickly got on top of me and I continued to fight.

"Shut up!" He slapped me and I was shocked. Who the fuck-? I didn't stop but he covered my mouth and banged my head against the floor. With one final bang, I was out.

I wake up to find myself, chained up in only my underwear. I look around and I see that I am in the dungeons of the palace. How did I even get here?

"Man, you are such a bitch, you know that?" I grit my teeth and find the culprit. Maddox was sitting in a chair, in the corner like a creep.

"What the hell do you think you are doing?! Unchain me at once! This is not your castle!" I spat at him.
