Maeve's POV

I ensured my wand was in my hand as I walked to the other side of the campus where the male dormitory was. Security was tight during the week but it's a little more lax during the weekend. But many rules get bent during the week, especially if there are any parties. I made my way up to the security booth where a gnome was guarding the dormitory. He looked down at me and sneered.

"What do ya want?" He grumbled.

"I'm just here to study for a project with Simon Richards," I inform the gnome. He rolls his eyes and waves me off. Well, isn't he just lovely?

"Just be out by m'night." I don't dignify it with a response but I nod and head inside. The male dorms were decorated similarly to the female dorms. There was a giant main common room then there were stairs that took you to different halls that held all of the dorms. Now I need to figure out which staircase went to his room.

"Wow, I didn't think you would show up." I turn to see Simon with his arms crossed, staring at me. He was out of uniform with his white tank top, gray sweats, and sandals. I will never, ever, ever admit this to anyone but I love gray sweats on guys. It's like the lingerie for men. Most don't wear underwear so everything will show. Oh, great. Now I just got a mental image of Simon bare underneath those sweats.

"Yeah, whatever. Let's just get this over with so I can go back to my dorm."

"Now, hold on. Before we do that, you know that there is a party going on right now, right?" I raise an eyebrow, not getting his point.

"Yeah, so?"

"So, let's have some fun there, and then we can do the project." I scoffed.

"You must be completely insane if you think I am going to accompany you to a party. Look, I am just here to do this stupid project and get it over with. If you want to squander precious studying time at some stupid party, then by all means, go for it. But do not waste my time over some stupid nonsense. Since you clearly don't need to work on the project, I am leaving." I turned my back towards him and went to walk out but he grabbed my arm to stop me.

"Okay, I've had it. You are so uptight! Do you ever have fun?" I scoffed disgustedly at him as I tried to yank my arm away from him.

"What's it to you? Not everyone can have the leisure of being at the top of the class," I sneer.

"And that's the problem. You need something to loosen you up. You are too focused on beating me, you're losing out on the time you have left to be young."

"God, you sound like Lilyra. I am fine. I do not need anything. I need to finish school, get a job at the Magic Sanctions, and finally be at peace and away from you." His eyes widened slightly.

"You really hate me that much?" Damn, why did he look so sad? I opened my mouth to say yes but I couldn't. It's not his fault that he's super smart.

"Well, it's hard to like you when you rub your victories in my face. I have to actually study. Unlike you." He scoffed and pulled my arm to one of the staircases. "What-what are you doing? Where are we going?"

"To show you my reality." He continued to drag me up the stairs and down the hallways before we made it to a door. He pulls out his wand, whispers a charm, and the door opens. He pulls me in and closes the door. He pulls me to the middle of the room, still holding my arm.

"What are you doing?" I ask again.

"Stand in the middle and do not move." I sighed heavily and nodded. He grabbed his wand again and sighed. With a loud gulp, he muttered the spell.

"Retourneur de temps." My eyes widened at the use of the spell. This is one of the hardest spells to learn because it turns back time. You have to have incredible mind strength to do this spell. Soon, a film-like roll surrounded the room and I saw Simon, sitting at a desk, studying. Wait, he studies?! He's normal?!
