Sharalyn's POV
Finlay and Dalinda drive us to Maverick's oversized house. Until I realize we are not going to that house. We're taking a completely different road.
"Where are we going?" I ask, playing with Corynn's feet and hearing her giggle.
"It's a surprise. Abyss decided to make a purchase that would be beneficial for him and the future." That made me more curious about what the surprise could be. What could it be? About 45 minutes of driving, we finally make it to a modern 2 story house that seemed to be perfect for a... family. I gasped and covered my mouth. Did he buy this for us? Finlay pulled up to the driveway and parked the car in the garage. He and Dalinda got out of the car first but I was still too shocked to even more. The door opened and I look up to see Dalinda.
"Come on, girl. You gotta take a look at your new home." I slowly got out of the car and Finlay grabbed Corynn's car seat from the car. Dalinda opened the door from the garage and I had to gasp again. The inside was perfect.
After you enter the home from the garage, you immediately walk into the kitchen, which was made for a gourmet chef. The island was huge, stainless steel appliances, and counter space for anything I would want to do. After leaving the kitchen, we walk into the living room. There was a nice black sectional couch as the focal point, along with that, a huge 65 inch TV was close the main wall, a coffee table, two large recliner chairs, and some plants for decoration. Also downstairs was a nice guest bedroom, complete with a guest bathroom.
"The best part is upstairs, lass."
"What's upstairs?" I ask, curious. He just smirked and gestured upstairs. I sigh and we make our way upstairs. When we get up there, we see the master bedroom first. The master bedroom was everything you need and more. There was huge California king sized bed right in the middle, a huge dresser, two nightstands on either side of the bed, and there was a pretty good sized closet. That will probably fit all of my clothes. But then we got to the room where I think my heart stopped. The door said nursery. I walked up to the door but I was frozen. I don't know why but seeing the nursery made it more real.
"What are you waiting for? Go inside. This is the room he was most proud of," Dalinda commented. I gulped and walked into the room. When I took a look around, I fell to my knees, with tears rolling down my face. It was perfect.
Her crib was on the far wall, the room itself was a pretty pastel purple and yellow, she had an abundance of toys and clothes, a diaper station, a sound machine, and a baby monitor. I couldn't keep it together. No one has ever put this much effort into me before. Don't get me wrong, John was a great husband but there was a disconnect between him and Corynn. I knew it was because she wasn't his. But this is perfect. Utterly perfect.
*Later that night*
After I pulled myself together and wiped my tears, I took in the nursery more seriously. He really did think of everything for her. Dalinda and Finlay left me alone to absorb the new house. I held Corynn on my hip and held her tightly.
"This is going to be our new life, kiddo. I hope you're ready." She just gurgled in response. I smile and sit on the couch. As soon as Maverick came home, I pretty much tackled him to the ground, laying kisses all over his face. He just chuckled and held me tightly. I couldn't thank him enough for the wonderful house and just the way he thought of me and Corynn.
Maverick was in the kitchen, making a five star meal, as he calls it. He made some seared steak bites, roasted red mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus, and for dessert, molten double chocolat lave cake. Now folks, there a few things that live rent free in my heart and chocolate is one of them. This man truly knows me.
