Nastasia's POV

"I wonder what this is about," my best friend, Lana, wondered.

"I mean, they said it's supposed to be some kind of game or something. But what kind of games can witches get up to?" I ask.

"True. But let's hope it's fun." All the students gathered in the courtyard, waiting for the headmistress. About 5 minutes later, the headmistress appears, seemingly out of nowhere. She is proficient is all magic but transportation magic is her specialty.

"Good afternoon, students. As you all know, we have asking around to see what kinds of things the academy can provide to have more fun. And a lot seemed to think this will be fun so we are granting it." She reaches into her pockets and pulls out 15 cards. "These cards are magically enhanced. Once I let them go, they will turn into whatever they have been enchanted to be. Your job is to find all these enchantments and turn them back into cards. This will be boys versus girls. Whoever catches the most will be treated to 500 galleons to spend at the town center."

Galleons are what we use to pay for things and 1 galleon matches $100 in human money. So 500 galleons is a lot of money.

"Whoa, that's awesome! This is going to be so much fun!" Lana cheers.

"Yeah, seems like my kind of game," I comment.

"The competition will start in 1 hour. Meet together and strategize." The boys and girls immediately split and all got talking about strategy. After 30 minutes of talking, we had a solid game plan to make sure we got the most cards.

"This is going to rock! Those boys won't know what hit 'em!"

"You said it, girl!"

"Whooo! Girl power!" Everyone was cheering and amped up.

"That's cute that you're getting amped up over nothing because it'll be worth nothing when you lose." I felt my blood pressure rise when I heard his voice.  God, what could he possibly want? I turned to see my arch-rival in all aspects of life, Ivan Voltovich. He is my childhood rival and has been a thorn in my side ever since. He had to compete with me for everything. From who went to the bathroom first to an assignment in class. There were some classes I excelled at like transportation magic and potions. He excelled in other classes but he wanted to be good at all of them so he would find tricks or contests to have with me. I don't get it and I never will get it. But he is so annoying. And it doesn't help that he's not horrible to look at.

"Ivan, what are you going on about now?" I ask, annoyed.

"Mmm, I love it when you say my name." That's another thing he does that drives me up the wall. He always flirts with me to ruffle my feathers.

"Shut up. What do you want now?"

"Well, like I said, we are going to win but I want to know if you want to make a little wager. With me." I rolled my eyes heavily at this.

"Again? Why do you insist on having these contests or wagers?" I wonder.

"Because I like seeing the look on your face when I win them."

"You do not win them all. I've won at least half of them. So, let's pump the brakes there," I remind him.

"You're right, you're right. So, what do you say?"

"Sure, whatever. What are the stakes this time?"

"Let's keep it simple. If the guys win, you do whatever I want for a full day. If the girls win, I will do whatever you want for a full day. Deal?" He sticks his hand out and I shake it.

"Yeah, sure. Whatever." He smirks at me, very confident.

"Very good. But just to make sure things stay clean and no one cheats or anything, let's put a binding charm on it." I nod and grab his hand again. We closed our eyes and chanted bind in French to bind the agreement. Our hands warmed together, successfully binding the agreement together.
