JUNGKOOK

He watched how the small flame that was at the notch of the tiny lighter became the humongous chaos of fire and smoke.

How she didn't move an inch from her place when the entire space in front if her blazed up in fire with a human within it.

How her eyes watched her own brother burn to death.

How she was at a loss of tears.

The lack of emotions had rendered Jungkook scared. He was scared for Jaehwa because if the scene, that excruciating feeling of watching someone die wasn't enough to make her turn away, scrunched her eyes in pain then he could only wonder the parameter of her anger and resentment to the man.

He felt like a failure. A man who failed to protect his woman. No matter how angry he was a few minutes ago at being kept in the dark, for getting abstained from knowing her reality, Jungkook loved her more than anything. It was somewhat a relief to know that she was his Jae, that same girl who he used to peer at from a secluded place and watch her laugh as she spent time with his older brother.

It was baffling to him how that cheerful soul had become this vengeful in a decade. The unmoving form of her standing in that circle of flames and anger made him feel helpless. He felt like an idiot who knew nothing about her.

How didn't he pick up the hints when she had told him about her family? He did know how Jaehwa's father the late king of Denmark died.

"She is leaving." The tone of urgency in Jimin's voice sounded through his thoughts as he snapped up to see her figure disappearing behind the smoke and the left over fire that still burned over the body that was all gone now.

"...Keep her there. What's the status of the area outside?" He could hear Yoongi speaking too, but his eyes watched till she was gone and still stared at the way.

She was gone.

His heart raced with anxiety at the thought of never seeing her again.
It felt like it was the last of what he had of her now. The subtle exchange of gaze, the sharing of stolen kisses, her touch, her smell, everything about her felt like a lost memory now. Just like he had felt when he had lost her before.
