The next morning I get ready, heading for the showers. I feel almost giddy at the thought of seeing Celeste again. Part of me can't believe that a girl like her would even want to be friends with me. After I shower, I dress and fix my make up. With my blonde eyelashes, I feel naked without my eyeliner and mascara. I make sure I put on my combat boots since Care of Magical Creatures is my first class. I don't want to risk a broken toe or anything.

In fourth year, a Gryffindor girl made the mistake of wearing sandals to class, and broke her foot in four places. It did not look pleasant.

I sit next to Mia at breakfast and she tells me about how her first day went yesterday.

"So, Ray and I were talking to Zach about how the quidditch team is shaping up this year. Apparently Laila Ross, a beater, swore at Umbridge during her class yesterday and she has been banned from playing for the season! Can you imagine? Banned for a whole school year because of one incident!" Mia grits her teeth angrily. "Now Hufflepuff is going to have to find a replacement fast!"

"Maybe you should try out," I suggest stabbing a piece of egg on my plate. "You're a decent flyer."

"I don't know..." She ponder it for a moment.

"Plus you'd get to see Alex Finnley all the time." I casually mention, watching her reaction out of the corner of my eye. Alex is Mia's long time crush and Hufflepuff Keeper.

"I hadn't thought of that." Her lips turned upwards slightly.

"When are tryouts?" I shovel some more food into my mouth, realizing I need to hurry up.

"After classes this afternoon."

"How about we go down there together and see what's up? You never know what could happen." I offer, hoping my presence there would encourage her.

"Sure. And even if I decide not to, at least I'll get to watch Finnley in action." She sighs wistfully.

"And the rest of the team." I add on, teasing her a bit.

"Yeah, them too."

Care of Magical Creatures goes alright. Although it's much more by the book than when Hagrid teaches. Also more legal. Despite his good intentions, Hagrid tends to showcase dangerous or illegal creatures. It makes for a well rounded education at least.

Since I have Herbology straight after, I don't even bother going back inside the castle. I just head straight towards the greenhouse. As I approach, I see Celeste exiting the castle doors. I debate for a moment on whether I should call her name or not, but settle on waving.

"Hey girl!" She calls, waving back. She jogs over to me and wraps me in a quick hug. "I'm so excited to have class with you!" We head inside and pick spots next to each other at the table.

"So tell me about yourself." She puts her chin in her hands, giving me her undivided attention. "I want to know everything."

I can't help but laugh.

"What do you want to know? But," I decide to add something on. "whatever you ask, you also have to answer."

"Fair enough." She nods her head thinking. "Maybe something easy. Favorite color?"

"Light pink and navy blue."

"Ooh very nice combo. Mine's lilac and mint." She says and I notice that her eyeshadow features both of these colors. "Worst subject?"

"Muggle Studies. Which is dumb because my dad's a muggle." We both giggle.

"Me too." This sends us into a fit of laughter as Professor Sprout enters.

"Well it's good to see you students in a good mood." She sets a large spikey plant on the table in front of her. "I'll try not to ruin it too much."

The chatter among the students die down as class starts. A surprising amount of students have chosen Herbology for N.E.W.T.s. I chose it as well as a lot of other because I have no idea what I want to do with my life. I don't accidentally want to close any doors that I might need later on.

Herbology has such a close connection with Potions. A lot of the items grown here in the green house are used for potions or healing. And some of these plants are extremely picky with their growing conditions.

Celeste and I barely speak at all throughout the lesson, very intent on making perfect notes. After class ends, we start picking up our things.

"I love your pens. I wish I would have brought some too." She points to my gel pens as I stuff them in. "It must be great for color coding."

"You know... You've just given me an idea." I hold up one of the pens between us. "I wonder if I got my dad to send me a bunch, if students would be willing to buy them."

"For sure." Celeste lights up at the idea. "I'll even be your first customer!"

Some of the fifth years are entering the greenhouse for the next class.

"We could do it together?" I offer, hoping she takes me up on it.

"Really? You want to do it together?" A slight pink colors her cheeks.

"If you want to." My own face gets a bit of color.

"I would love to! We should come up with a cute business name!" She grabs the pen from my hand, looking it over. "Hmm. Do you have-"

A loud crash behind me interrupts us. I turn around just in time to see a large ivy vine coming towards me. I try to swat it away, but it is rapidly growing and quite strong at this point.

"What the he-" I'm cut off as the vine quickly wraps around both Celeste and I, tying us together.

"Oof!" Celeste grunts as my back slams into her.

"Sorry! I'm so sorry!" I frantic fifth year runs up to us, frantically pulling at the vines. "I didn't mean to. I'm just a bit clumsy." His efforts are not helping in the slightest.

A exasperated Professor Sprout hurries over to us, wand drawn.

"Mr. Finnagin, why do these things always happen with you?" She casts a spell on the plant, forcing it to release us. Another boy comes over to us and starts helping Sprout clean everything away.

Celeste and I untangle ourselves from the now limp vines. I start chuckling slightly at the absurdity of the situation. After a moment Celeste joins in. Giggling, we both manage to get out of the entangled plant.

"You have a bit in your hair." I reach up and pull a sprig of ivy from her braids. This causes both of us to start laughing harder and even Professor Sprout cracks a smile.

"Alright, no harm done. Now why don't you girls get on to your next class before you're late." She shoos us away. "And thank you Neville for your assistance. Five point to Gryffindor for your helpful attitude."

We both are headed in opposite directions for our next class.

"Wanna meet in the library after lunch?" She asks, slinging her bag over her shoulder.

"Yeah. I have my potions essay to finish." I agree and we depart. Seventh year just may be the best one yet.
