May arrives, and with it, a very exciting event. It's rather small, with mostly just family and a few friends. I am so excited to get to be here. Tonks claims that I have to attend, crediting me with talking sense into Remus at last. I'm not sure about all that. But I accept the invitation.
The wedding is at a park, in the middle of a flower field. Tonks opts out of the traditional white dress, wearing a flowing deep green instead. She has daffodils braided into her blush pink hair. Her smile practically glows as she walks across the field to meet her beloved.
Kingsley stands in his dress robes, next to Remus as Tonks reaches them. Tonks and Remus hold hands, and Kingsley begins the ceremony.
"Many things come and go. Fame, wealth, even health. But some things are eternal enough to bridge lifetimes. Love, the most powerful magic of all, the very thing that brings us here today."
Tonks beams up at Lupin who just stares at her in complete awe.
"The love that Remus and Tonks share is something rare and to be treasured. It is one of strength, self sacrifice, and perseverance. Today, they have invited you here, to witness their declarations of love, and lifelong loyalty."
Kingsley gestures to Tonks who pulls out a piece of paper from a hidden pocket in her dress.
"Remus, I know it hasn't been all that long, but to me, it feels like I've known you forever. I had always scoffed at the idea of true love. I had decided that the marriage reality had to offer was settling for someone that you tolerated, and perhaps even cared for." Tonks wipes a tear as it runs down her cheek.
"But when I saw you for the very first time, I knew there was no way I would ever settle. I had found that mythical true love. And despite the difficulties that surround us, and fight against us, we have made it to this point. And I could not be more happy."
"Remus John Lupin. I promise to love you every morning and every evening. Every day and every night. Every moon phase, every season, every day, hour, and minute. I promise to love you the entirety of this life, death, and beyond. I promise to support you, to trust you, and to work together as a team. I am so grateful for the honor of getting to be your wife."
My own eyes fill with tears at her words, and for a brief moment, I let myself hope for this for Fred and Myself.
Kingsley offers Tonks a tissue which she accepts with a smile.
"Remus?" The man nods to the groom.
"Nymphadora Tonks." Lupin starts off cheekily, earning a playful glare from his beloved. "Tonks, my love. For as long as I can remember, I never believed someone would ever be able to see past my many faults enough to love me. But by some fantastic miracle, here you are. I was instantly charmed by your smile, and infatuated with your laugh. I spent far too long trying to deny the pull I felt towards you, convincing myself that I would never be good enough of a man for a woman like you. And I regret that it took me so long to give in. You are, undoubtedly, the best thing that has ever happened to me. For the first time, I no longer dwell on the past, for you have made my future brighter. I love you with all that I am. And I promise to love you past my dying breath. I promise to cherish every day spent in your presence, and I promise I will never ever stop trying to be the man you deserve. Thank you for loving me. It's more than I could have ever dreamed."
Tonks has both of her hands covering her mouth as tears stream down her face. Remus himself chuckles, wiping a few from his own eyes.
"Now that these two have declared their love for each other, I must ask them both a question. Tonks, do you take Remus Lupin to be your lawfully wedded husband?" Kingsley asks.
