It's been a few weeks since George and I talked. I've started following a better nutrition plan, regularly going to a nearby muggle grocery for fresh food. That paired with better hydration and calorie increase, and my body quickly learns to keep up with the schedule.
Martin and I learn more about each other and I discover he's actually quite funny. He's a brute strength player and can hit the bludger far further than I could ever dream. We begin to form strategies where I set up the hit for him, and he completes it. My speed paired with his power works rather nicely.
Celeste and Mia have both visited a couple of times and have helped fill out my apartment. I now have a couch and television along with some kitchen appliances and a deck for my potion brewing.
I pass the Weasley Wizard Wheezes pretty much every day now that I'm not going out of my way to avoid it. It hurts every time I see the storefront, but it has been getting easier. I just hope that the time Ginny said I should give them passes quickly. Even if all we end up with if friendship, I would be content with it.
Mine and Alex's first game arrives, and we meet the team at the pitch before the sun.
"Alright team." Vivian is in full gear, pacing nervously as she addresses us. "This is our first game with our rookie players. The first game with new players is always a bit rough, but if we focus, we can pull through."
"We got this Captain!" Alex announces, standing in a hero pose. "We'll crush those... those..." He trails off, not knowing who we're versing today.
"Harpies." Vivian supplies and I feel my blood run cold. No. Why did it have to be the Harpies? My mother never misses and game, and no doubt will be at this one. When she finds out that I accepted a potion with a different team, she's going to be furious. This is just what I need to help my focus.
"You alright, Taylor." Martin notices my unease.
"Just parental drama." I whisper, not wanting to make a big deal out of it.
"Come on." He kicks off into the air and motions for me to follow him. I do as I'm told and soar into the air after him. Vivian takes note, but doesn't say anything. "What's going on?"
"My mom's coming today." I face the wind and let the breeze blow my hair back. It's nice and relaxing.
"Afraid she'll embarrass you with her loud cheering?" He teases, drifting next to me.
"I wish. She's an ex Harpie. She's going to be furious when she learns I took a position with you guys. She was so determined that I'd take up her legacy." I close my eyes. "I haven't talked to her since before school ended."
"Your mom was a Harpie? And you chose us instead?" He pauses for a moment. "Good choice. Now you can make your own legacy."
"Thanks Martin."
"And if she tries to ruin your day, I'll take care of her." He throws out casually before flying off. I'm not sure what he means by 'taking care of her,' but hopefully it's nothing too drastic.

About an hour before the game starts, spectators begin to arrive, so we head down to the locker rooms. Martin and I start stretching our arms and shoulders to keep them warm and loose for the game. I am expecting Vivian to do a little pregame talk like Alex used to do, but her and the other two chasers are all meditating in the corner. I guess they need inner peace to cause outer destruction.
Alex joins Martin and I in our stretching, also noticing the silence.
"So no pep talk?" He asks Martin in a low voice.
