I hold on to the hope that Celeste gave me as April turns to May. I do my best to focus on my NEWTS, still having no idea what I'm to do after graduation. I have my meeting with Professor Sprout after classes, and the nerves are building inside of me. Surely she has figured out something for me.

Professor Binns is rambling on and on during History of Magic, seeming unaware of the students in front of him. Honestly, I'm not sure if he's even teaching the seventh year material. It doesn't matter though. I've been getting most of my NEWT information from the library for this subject anyway. Merlin knows I have no attention span during his class. It's like he wants us all to die of boredom so we can join him in the ghostly plane.

Class finally ends, and I gather all my items. I was actually working on potions homework the entire class. A much better allocation of my time in my opinion. I shove all my books into my bag and follow the rest of the class out into the hall.

It's a bit quieter here now that the twins are gone. No more random fireworks or suspicious odor clouds. Classes are no longer interrupted by Peruvian darkness powder. At least I can still find younger students using their snack boxes to get out of DADA.

I take my things back to my dorm, running into Mia along the way.

"Hey, you headed to the library to study?" She asks, dropping her books onto her bed.

"No, actually. I have a meeting with Sprout. Gotta figure out my life." I sigh, sitting on the edge of my bed. "Honestly I don't have much hope. The kind of work I want to do would be with the Ministry. And that place is a hot mess right now."

"Yeah. Imagine if you have to get a muggle job for a bit." She tries to laugh, but can't as she realizes that may have to be a possibility for us.

"My dad would be thrilled." I grimace, at the thought. "I just hope Sprout found me something."

"Good luck." She says solemnly as I head back out.

"Thanks," I call back over my shoulder as the door shuts behind me. I take my time walking to Sprout's office. I might end up a couple of minutes late, but my nerves keep causing my feet to drag. All too soon, I arrive at her door. I hesitate before knocking on the thick wooden door.

"Enter!" Her voice calls from within and the door swings open in front of me. I take a step inside her office, having to duck under a hanging vine. "Hello, Miss Taylor."

"Hi, Professor." I take the seat across from her, and she shuffles through the papers on her desk.

"How have your classes been going?"  She spins around to place them on a cabinet behind her.

"Good I guess."  Merlin, my hands are sweaty.

"That's good to hear!"  She turns back around and waves her wand in the air, quietly muttering a spell.  "Don't want any eavesdroppers.  Even if they are "Headmistress.""

"Oh.  I didn't realize she'd even care out something like this."  I am a bit taken aback.  Why would Umbridge be bothered with something as minor as this.

"Oh, she's just a tad nosy."  Sprout sniffs, failing to keep the disdain from her voice.  "She's worried us other professors are going to fill your head with nonsense about dark lords rising and such."

"Yes.  Much nonsense."  I nod my head in mock seriousness.

"Indeed.  Now on to the reason we're here..." She sighs slightly.  I suppose it's hard to find places for your students in this kind of world.  "With your aptitude for potions, that would be the best fit for your talents.  However, at this time, jobs with the Ministry are a bit turbulent.  It may be wise to wait a bit before pursing such things."
