Sorry it's been so long since I've updated. I've just been struggling with how I want this to go. Thank you for your patience loves <3
"Hey, Hazel." Fred calls to me where I sit behind the counter of the shop. I'm doing research on the Wolfsbane potion, trying to figure out a way to make it affordable and accessible. That would be the key to giving werewolves back their rights without endangering others.
"Yes, love?" I answer, not looking up from my book.
"Can I take you out?" He asks, coming over and leaning across the counter. I whine when he plucks the book from my hand.
"Can't. I've got a kid, remember." I glance over to where said child is playing in his play yard. He loves to be in the shop with all the bright colors and activity.
"George said he'd watch him." Fred counters with a lopsided grin. "Please?"
"Well, since you asked nicely." I tease, leaning forward and kissing him sweetly. "That sounds great."
We hadn't had a date since... two years ago. We had kind of been thrown into domestic life, working, raising Teddy, and struggling to find enough time with each other. It's been a difficult adjustment. I wish I didn't, but I still have trouble trusting Fred, and I'm sure the feeling is mutual.
We tore each other apart.
Sometimes it's hard not to see that when looking at each other.
Does he worry that one day I'll vanish in the night, with nothing but a message from George? Does he worry that I don't tell him the hard stuff?
And my own worries and insecurities as well. Does he miss his ex fiancé? Does he wish they had never ran into me with Teddy that one day? Did he just settle with me because she was no longer an option? Does he truly believe me when I tell him I love him? Did he really forgive me? Is he going to use it against me like he's done before?
So many thoughts that we haven't been able to talk through. Too unstable and uncertain to be ready to work through it.
He grins, pulling back. "Alright. Go get dressed. We'll be outside, so grab a jumper for later on."
"Alight." I gather up my paperwork, tucking it neatly into it's folder. I only have another week until the next full moon, and I'd really like to make some progress before then. I'll just work extra on it tomorrow to make up. Fred picks up Teddy, setting him on the counter as I head up.
"Teddy and I got the shop." He grins down at the toddler swinging his chubby legs back and forth.
"Wed jutes peas." Teddy asks my boyfriend.
"Buddy I have no idea what you just said." He chuckles, leaning in to hear the soft voice of the boy.
"Jutes!" Teddy yells, waving his arms.
"He wants juice!" I call down the steps as I push open the door to the flat.
"Ahh! Thanks!" Fred sets to work on satisfying his charge and I enter my bedroom to change. I take a quick shower and exchange my sweats for jeans and a cute shirt. After I finish with hair and makeup, I grab my jacket and head back down.
George is holding Teddy when I return, telling him how to properly use a dung bomb. I cringe, but don't interfere. Karma will catch up when George remembers he lives in the same house as Teddy.
Fred comes down a moment later, dressed handsomely in a pair of jeans and a button down. He winks as me as he jumps off the bottom step.
"Are you ready to go?" He asks, holding out an arm.
