The next morning, I send another owl to my parents.  Most of it is asking my dad for help with the pen situation.  He's always telling me how he thinks the wizards should be more open to using muggle devices, so I'm sure he'd love to help.  I request specific brands and colors for him to send.  Hopefully it will only take a few days for him to get back to me.

At the end of the letter, I add a small note for my mom.  I follow the twin's advice and tell her that I didn't get on the team.  I then suggest that perhaps I need to practice more, and ask for her to send me a new broom.  Satisfied, I send the letter off with one of the school's owls, and head down for breakfast.

I head to sit next to Mia as usual, but I'm intercepted.

"Hazel!  Over here!"  Alex waves me over to come sit with him and the rest of the team.  I shoot Mia an apologetic look and head over.  Thankfully she doesn't seemed bothered and gives me a thumbs up before going back to her conversation with Ray.

"Hey guys."  I smile shyly as I sit down in the empty seat next to Zach.  "Thanks for voting me on the team."

"You were brilliant yesterday!"  Edwin exclaims, excitedly.  Wow, he has a lot of energy for it being this early.

"Admirable performance," the team seeker agrees.  I think his name is Summerby.  I don't know his first name.

"Thanks guys."  I grab some of the food and load up my plate.  "I sent an owl to my mom asking for a new broom.  Hopefully it won't take too long to get here."

"Your mom will just send you a new broom?"  Edwin whistles.  "That's nice.  I have to practically beg my parents for the one I have.  Had to work the whole summer of fourth year to get it."

"My mom's super into flying."  I don't want to go into specifics.

"Well, we're glad your mum is willing to help us out."  One of the chasers, Hillary grins.  "It's been too long since Hufflepuff has won the Quidditch Cup."  The others all nod in agreement.

"I'll do my best."  I promise, determinedly.  I wouldn't be playing for my mom's legacy, or because she pressured me.  I would be playing for myself.  Because I enjoy quidditch despite my mom's expectations.  And I would not be holding back.

"That's all we could ask for."  Alex grins, excited to be back at it.  Having the Quidditch cup be cancelled last year because of the Triwizard tournament was hard on all the teams.  Having their passion put on hold for something they weren't even involved in upset quite a few students from all four houses.

The team chats as we eat, helping me get to know all of them.  Alex is a seventh year like me, captain and keeper.  Then there were the chasers; Hillary, Zach, and Tess, all fifth years.  Edwin, the other beater is in sixth year, and lastly Quint Summerby; the seeker and youngest in his fourth year.

As we finish up, I bid them farewell, promising to see them later at the pitch.  I head out of the great hall to get my school things and Mia meets me at the doorway.

"Hey!"  She smiles brightly, flashing her teeth.  "How's things with the team?  You looked like you were all getting on well."

"Great!  I was really unsure at first, but I've decided to just go for it.  Besides, if I screw up too bad, they can always just replace me."  I grab her hand as we walk to the dorm.

"Aw, don't talk like that.  You're going to be amazing."  She reassures me.  She's a really great friend.  I wouldn't have made it through school without her.  I turn and give her a big hug.  "Woah, what's that for?"  She giggles, surprised by the sudden affection.
