Cup and saucer daintily placed
All set for a high tea
One of immense grandeur within
But with entry restricted
I chose to invite
To let you walk in
You tried to steal the glass
One saucer might fetch a fortune
Of grief and regret paid in moments
One teeny slip up on your way out
Clattered the glass
It shattered alas
You've been caught, but unknown
For every blushing maiden there
Could've been it
Yet it's obvious because it is I who
Held that cup that lost its saucer
I, who thrived on broken glass
And time caused it healed enough
Me, to dance on it bare footed
You had told another
A beautiful one who didn't deserve
The pain oncoming
You still hide in the shadows
No manners of the dainty that walked
No apology as you scurry away
Cup of coffee still in hand
Watching you wince in pain
Glass you broke - I lay
Callous skin to broken glass
Like on a sparkly bed
While you run away dripping red
And I will only sip the coffee
And walk away from the disgrace
That has left amidst the crowd
Hoping no one knew
I'm not the kind to call the cavalry
This was not planned of chivalry
But yet things come to an end
And the grand room doors
Stand bolted shut
Peep hole being used finally to see
Who walks in and who doesn't.
