Times haven't been easy
Clearly universal - some afloat
Others barely if at all
This brought, to each, a dawn
The obvious cloak of stigma
That surrounded mental health
Everything is a shade of another
Nothing just the same
But for coincidence - not to blame
Yet the neglect isn't just huge
It's obvious and wrong
The few who try for a change
A metamorphosis from within
Only for the world to try and grope
The butterflies back
Behind a conservative blindfold
The butterflies - though few
Soar high and out of reach
They knew all too well
They grew from one world
Into their own other
Yet don't you wonder why they come
Back down to lay their eggs
The youngsters to fight through
Learn what's right for themselves
Show the world, once again
That their colours shine
For the one experience
Of breaking out and free
Of ripping the blinds
Of more vivid dreams
Of growing themselves
To uncloak themselves and realise
How much is lost even to compound eyes
When it's in the dark
