I get to know you with every step; shared bated breaths of anticipation; yet I can't always call for you; even if I knew just how to; for a shoulder to lean on or a hand to hold; I'm very reserved I'm afraid; and who would believe me; eyes of the night that protect me; scarcely spotted and grately feared; a web of misery in between; trapped by the arachnid of fate; I can't even whisper; yet you hear my heart; eyes so keen and wit uncompared; it seems as though you had a feel; for the very instant future; you are far more verbal; clearly not my strong point; but while I ride on your shoulders; as we pass the woods that are darker at night; your eyes like progeny of the sun; the warmth that only I feel; we speak in a way you can't imagine; the octet of fate's broken limbs; maybe for the better; yet there were others that despised; and at times the beast of the night would only run away; I'd blame myself, but he'd come back; as warm as ever; would anyone believe that once; he could've sunk his teeth right into my fear stricken physique; his claws only grazed my flesh; yet enough to draw blood; the beast of the night cried then; unintentional salt to the wound; yet I felt nothing but his pain; the beast was in line to be slain; all I could do was send him what I knew; as I chose to whisper our first greeting; it was a bond forged fast; through the bushes I rode him; talking in the silence; my words instantly across; my friend stunned the universe that night; he wouldn't be slain on my watch; yet the tiny steps all caution laden; progress incessant as we grow together; it hasn't been long since he made the choice of setting me free; his animal instinct and fate's many strings; he's nice to me but many spring in a heartbeat; I know; I did it too; since then have I confided; in a beast with power galore; in a beast that is in no hurry; to merely gain and exploit.ty
