A drizzle like passing tears
Barely a breeze - a shaky breath
Every torrent marked some
Milestone of a day
Now staring - rainbow outside
Who, my child, made you cry
Pastel palette interrupted
Blob of grey wrings out a shower
Thinning out into wisps now
They say time does heal
But maybe it just fades away
It was humid, very very warm
And now it's all gone
Is it cold or am I running a fever
Sleepy, sleepless and saturated
I miss the warmth
That only you can bring, but alas
Who, my child, made you cry
Was the sun just far too bright
Didn't the moon sing last night
What leaves you with no light
Eyes that glimmer from within
All glazed over and reflecting
The fleeting hues of the rainbow
Who, my child, made you cry
Don't tell me not to worry
Don't rush yourself to heal
Nay to hiding in a corner
Let me rock you instead
What brought you such pain
Leaving you backing away
My hands can't reach so far
But no, I won't give up
I'll reach all the way and hold tight
When it's you, for us to fight
We're not one apart, so now
Who, my child, made you cry
Brought you distress and unease
Paint me a picture if you please
I'll give you no pressure
Wish I knew, but even if I don't
If I could bring back that smile
Those shimmering brown eyes
The aura bringing warmth
Putting up no walls or distance
This so doesn't seem like you
Who, my child, made you cry
