Shattering in glimmering shards
Blood curdling screams amidst
Painful ringing in throbbing ears
Metallic smell and taste of red
With everthing all heightened
Every touch leaving me startled
Hanging bags give me no breath
Wish I could say it all was blurry
Clearly dizzy, but more important
Was that nothing could I see
Not the fingers I knew were there
Nor the ones unmoving nearby
Was it me that shut my eyes
Am I just too afraid to open them
Last - prismatic glass air borne
Nothing before shadowy dark
Not one warning until the crash
Had the crew saved their lives
Clinging to now lifeless hands
Yet I could see no more
Everything felt clouded despite
All judgement intact
One shaky step after another
Someone came running
I still couldn't see, until
The rays of hope seeped back in
Past veils of shadowy despair
Trapped no more in gloom
Set free by the one who just
Happened to know my name
To collapse at last, but smiling
Knew no less of how precious
The little sunlight had been
Maybe I've ended up in here
The room with perfectly whites
White attires too - Heaven? Earth?
Slowly past parched lips
Comes a piercing apology
None in particular yet to humanity
A gentleman that chose to assert
A view that I'd lost on the way
He'd given me hope too
The news said thise who survived
And then there were two
Beyond the doors was he
Nice to meet you to
We broke past everything
Just to be here together
We might not be there yet
We might never get just there
But even if we're on
The path to overshoot
I think I'd take the path with you
I'm still unsure and I can't see
But I'll keep you next to me
Maybe silently gripping your bags
Or clinging to your sleeve
My arm too, if you'd be in need
I reconnected to where I was
Till we'd taken off
No one will let me let go
Of the one reason I still see
Glistening glass to shining sun
Veiled moments that interrupted
Only made me wish much harder
It's been long enough
Can I hold your hand?
