I'd never be enough - ever anxious
Unrelenting - you stayed
The fear never leaves, but
Neither do you
All I gotta do is remember that
It will all soon be okay
Sometimes you think it's fun
Shoving me into a situation
Not without a safety net or
Your hand gripping my arm
Though then it was scary
I shoved even you in fright
You knew I managed to climb
A step higher - a little taller
Some days there's no sun
The future obscured
Gloom settingvover as I withdraw
Standing alone in the rain
You're not always running
After me with your clear umbrella
Days I'll walk through your doors
Heart cracking loud as thunder
While you're all curled up
Sobbing on the ground
Days like that were meant - for
Iced coffee despite the cold
Wrapped in a blanket and
My arms - because it was okay
The sky was clearing as you slept
Peacefully on my shoulder
The exhaustion slowly releasing
You from its clutches - mind and
Form slowly easing into mine
Sometimes for days later you'd
Be too embarrassed to meet
But even that's okay
It wouldn't faze me
We were just meant to be
To make you happy is on me
