- The Next Day -

I lay in my bed, hiding under the covers. Just trying to hide myself away from society.

I turn and turn, I had no sleep whatsoever.

I had awful nightmares, how I was such a horrible person.

Why do I even have this power anyways? 9.9? Why am I so powerful?

I force myself out of bed anyways and try to get on with my life. I grab a jacket and very quickly brushed my hair and got out.

I decided to go out for breakfast. I was too lazy to cook. Luckily there was a breakfast place a block from my apartment.

I take a seat there, at one of the tables in the corner. I order a cup of coffee and a breakfast sampler.

I sigh as I rubbed my face. I unlock my phone and noticed a text message from Daniel. "Oh boy, here we go I'm going to get fired or some shit."

It had read. "Emerson I got it sorted out with the authorities so you don't need to worry but I do need you to come in the office later today."

Yup, this is it for me.

I took my time and finished my breakfast. I head outside and I start my way to Aurora Defense.

I led myself inside and into the meeting room. Inside were Daniel Aurora and the four others, Glanica, Salvus, Astral and Eques.

"Good timing Alpha." Daniel smiled. "Please have a seat."

"Whatever you've got to say, say it now." I take a deep breath.

"Emerson we're worried about your mental health, your values don't align with the mental misfire that happened yesterday." Daniel clicked his pen.

"That I agree with, that's why I don't belive anyone should have powers higher than range 6.0"

"We got healed up quickly at the hospital." Eques said. "They had a special medicine developed to heal wounds quickly. You don't need to worry about us."

"That's good to hear Beta." I rubbed my forehead. Knowing full well why they even needed to be hospitalized.

"We agree that you should still be part of this team but I think you need to work out why you weren't yourself. Once you fix that we can carry-"

"I'm resigning." I stood up.

"W-what?" Salvus looked surprised.

"Mental health is not something you can fix like replacing a hard drive on a computer. It's something that takes time. I can't trust myself to not hurt you five again. I'm not risking it." I explained. "Eques, I guess you're Alpha now."

"But you can't quit." Salvus added. "Sure you're fucking sick in the head but you're our most powerful member!"

"Damn to think I've been here for only so long and the Alpha already quit." Glanica thought.

"Eques is already a range 7.0, already higher than most people. That should be enough." I added.

"Emerson, I will respect your decision but I will ask. Are you sure?" He leaned in forward.

I looked at him directly in the eye. "Yes sir, I'm sure."

"Then." He got up and gave me some paperwork that belonged to me. "You may take this. Your final check will be in the mail shortly for 50,000$ a big payment for finding and executing the solution to the reports in the lower area. I'm sorry to see you go."

"Thanks." I received it. "I'll see you around."

"Goodbye ya'll."

That marked the end of my time at Aurora Genesis.

I start packing up my apartment. I no longer had a reason to stay in Metropolis, I wanted to live somewhere else cheaper and new.

Fiora had offered to help me with packing up, sweet girl she is.

"Where do you think you're moving to?" She asked while packing some clothes up.

"I think somewhere less chaotic. Somewhere where people don't know me. I'm thinking of Raventown, it's a couple hours drive away. We'll I have to get a car first to move all this stuff but I can do that later." I explained.

She taped up the last of the boxes while I stacked them all up in the corner.

"So what do you think our plans for us is going to be?" She then asks.

"We'll have to see but we could always just separate and go our own ways." I shrugged.

"We're soulmates you dumbass." She abruptly said, annoyed.

"Right." I cringe at the half bad half good memory.

"Well I haven't found a good place that offers a good course on literary. So I'm thinking of moving myself. Besides Celina likes here and I don't so I'm sure she'll still stay." She added. "Do you think Raventown has any good colleges?"

"I'm sure, I've looked into it. All I have to do is worry about what I want to do. I want to write, study law, run my own business, do something artistic with my life but also something productive."

"Why not do it all, sounds doable." She replied.

"That's not a bad idea." I give it some thought. "Well now all I have to do is find a new home, get a car to move all this shit and start anew."
