My left hand starts to feel a bit sore, it's only recently since I've got here. I have no idea why.

"Something wrong Em?" Celina asked me, looking over me seeing that I'm fumbling with my hand.

"I dunno my hand is sore. Could be just the fact that I'm low on a vitamin or....." I began to remember something horrible.

"Or could be that my hand still hurts from when I was 12 and I fell and scrapped the entire skin off my left hand." I flopped it around and it went away. "I don't know why it would be hurting though, I have no reason for it to."

"That's interesting, speaking of that I never asked do you happen to have a mark somewhere cool?" Fiora asked me, appearing to take interest.

"I uh.....no." I flat out told her.

"No?! But you've got to have one! Even those who are born 'markless' still have one hiding somewhere!" Fiora said surprised.

"Nope." This topic actually was starting to give me physical emotional pain again, you know that sharp tingling that somehow flows through your veins. "Don't got one." I took a bite of my fettuccine.

"Yeah, Emerson is basically the guy who has ridiculous power and no mark. A trade off for sure but definitely not one I would pick. I'd much rather just be a normal level and have a soulmate."

"W-well." Fiora looked a little confused. I don't blame her, in one day she found out a person could have a range higher than 99.9% of the population and also be born without a single mark. "You know marks don't actually appear until early adolescence for most people so maybe you are a late bloomer and-"

"I'm 18." I argued. "It's too late." This conversion was beginning to make me mad, why can't she understand that I have no damn soulmate. I don't even give a shit anymore and I'm just glad I have my power.

"Maybe we should switch the conversation." Salvus offered, sensing that I already was pissed off.

"I'm going to excuse myself, I'll be back in a minute." I got up from my seat.

I left the restaurant building and stood by in the parking lot, pondering with my thoughts. My depression had already started coming back again and I couldn't be seen having mental issues, especially in public. So I did the age old trick I've used to combat it.

Convert that sadness to rage.

I look at a nearby trash can. My eyes glow bright neon blue, matching the color of my ability. My arm extends into an energy blade and I slash the shit out of that trash can and then I fire an energy beam at the damn thing as well.

The trashcan basically was shredded to pieces and visibly did not look like it used to be a one.

Alright, time to go back inside. Just stay sane, don't embarrass yourself.

I quietly make my way back in and to my table. "Sorry about that."

"No worries." Salvus honestly couldn't care less.

"Hey um, sorry for...you know." Fiora went back into her shy state.

I felt like a big asshole and I didn't want to be one, gosh what the heck is wrong with me?

"Oh no, you didn't do anything. I just needed some air because I think this food had a little too much salt." I lied so that way it wasn't anyone's fault.

"I agree." Celina added. "I'm going to pay for all of us."

"Really?" Salvus looked like a child hearing good news.

"No wait," I got up. "At least let me pay for my-"

"Nah its all good, I've been planning to anyways. I know you all had a rough time lately." She paid without giving us time to contest.

We four left the restaurant, I said to Celina. "It was nice seeing you again, thank you."

"You're welcome, hopefully we can get together and do something like this again." Celina smiled cheerful.

"It was really nice meeting you, I hope we can be good friends." I turned to Fiora polietly.

"It was uh, nice meeting you too." She grinned slightly.

"Well uh." I held up my hand that held my car keys. "I've got to go, I'll see yall later!" I waved goodbye and got to my truck.

I started the vehicle and drove straight back to my apartment, I decided that I had enough social time for that day.

As I was driving, I looked forward to having a relaxing weekend. I couldn't wait, just to have two full days to myself again.

- The Next Day -

I stood over my coffee table, holding two documents. My eyes were shaking and I couldn't belive what I was reading.

One document had read that my school was shut down for fraud and all of my payments were refunded in full. So that ment I basically didn't have a school to attend to anymore and so I couldn't finish my certification.

The second document basically laid me off from the electric company, their reasoning basically was that they wanted me to focus on my education and not come to work a stressed wreck.

I sat down on my couch, holding the two documents and had my hand on my forehead.

What am I going to do now!?
