I sighed as I walked out of the libaray, holding a couple books in my backpack. Today was exhausting but it wasn't all bad today.
‐ My name is Emerson, I'm a half Eurpoean and Hispanic 18 year old. I have brown eyes and my hair is half blue and brown. -
I looked around me, the city of Metropolis was the same as always. Cars zooming by, powers being thrown and other things.

I stuff my books into my backpack and pull up my blue hoodie over my head. I didn't felt like being noticed today, I just wanted to hide from the world.
-.....the second gift, is a mark. A guarantee of love. The child will always be born with a mark that will show them how their soul mate will touch them for the first time. Once they touch, their mark glows with color and shrinks to the size of a dot and becomes a rainbow like color. Signifying they have found their love. That'd how this world of super powers stays sane. -
I quickly walked down the bustling city, constantly getting pushed around by strangers. I had to hold in my frustration, I couldn't make a scene in a place like this. I had to keep my sanity.

By pure faith and keeping it together, I managed to get to the entrance to my apartment complex. I swiped my key card to the door and allowed myself in, I raced up the stairs until I found my apartment. I unlocked the door and rushed inside. I threw my backpack on the floor and locked the door behind me and plopped on the couch. I had an incredibly stressful day, I don't know why today was so busy buy I felt so emotionally drained that I could puke.
- but what about my mark you may ask? That's the not so fun part.....

"AH! Damnit!" I say aloud in frustration. "I forgot to get take-out!"
My stomach was hurting because I was hungry all day, I'm a fairly light person so it wasn't that I'm a fantasy.
I moan and get up from the couch and check the refrigerator for anything to eat. I know I can cook, I can cook alot of things but I always don't have the time to stock up on groceries.
"*sigh* Yep as usual, nothing to eat. I should really get some groceries one of these days." I say to myself, disappointed.
I look at my hand and I get an idea. My hand glew bright blue and my eyes turned from brown to a bright ( literally glowing ) blue. "If I'm tired, I bet I can generate enough energy to force myself to get at least take out food maybe?"
- Powers usually have a color assigned to them, most of the time it's the same color as the owners own favorite color. I have stated earlier that powers have different scales of strength. They're are 10 main Ranges. It's simply just the numbers 1 through 10, however alot of the time powers don't exactly fit into a standard number so fractions also have to be used. For example a range of 5.7 is simply a 5 and 7/10ths of a 1. So it's not quite a range of 6.0 but it's stronger than a 5.0 -
I generate enough energy into myself to head back out and get some fast food. I rush down the stairs and out the door. With the ability to generate energy also comes the ability to generate speed so I ran at sound speed to quickly run to the nearest burger place and pick up some food.
- Most people are born with a range of around 0.5 to 5.5, it is very rare for people to go beyond that. It's even more rarer for someone to go beyond the range of 8.0. If someone manages to hit that range and beyond, they are very likely to have a power that could literally wipe out humanity as we know it. -
I stop instantly at the restaurant and order myself some food, after some waiting for 15 minutes I did eventually get it and I rushed myself back home in sound speed once again. I plopped back onto my couch and ate my dinner in peace.

Yeah I get, someone with an absolutely ridiculous range with no soul mate mark which can literally lead to mental issues sounds like a great fucking idea! But that's the cards I'm dealt with unfortunately -
I open my book with burger in hand to study it. It's a book about cars, I'm currently living in Metropolis simply so I can attend trade school to be an auto technician. This is only a temporary situation I'm in. Once I'm done with schooling, I can get out of this stressful city and go somewhere else where I can be happy.
