Chapter 36: Genesis Drive

- The Next Day -

Fiora was pretty embarrassed about what happened yesterday at her parents house. The whole drive home she kept apologizing for what happened. I didn't need it from her though, she didn't hurt me.

But even today, she still reminds me about the situation.

"Fi it's fine!" I sigh. "Don't worry, I'm not upset at you at all."

"I know but I still feel like I have to apologize." Fiora held a half-made cup of coffee.

"Well I do know one person who has to apologize." I roll my eyes as I look at my tablet.  "My packaged had been accidentally shipped back to Metropolis! So now I have to go there to pick up."

"Metropolis? Must of been error." She thought, as she sat on the floor with me. Why? Because we have no table.

"I'm going to have to go to Metropolis today I guess. Need anything from there?" I looked to her.

"No but I could get a good coffee there and maybe some real breakfast." She sipped her coffee and coughed. "Gosh this is fucking disgusting!"

"Alright it's settled. I'm going to get some fresh clothes on, we'll take my car. Unless you go yourself or we'll both go I'm your Audi?" I said.

"Nah, it's fine, I don't like driving much. It stresses me out." She smiled.

I'm still trying to figure this girl out and apparently she's my soulmate? It's kinda strange when I think about it. When I first met her I thought she was gay, well for Celina that is...

We drive in to Metropolis city where I stop by my old apartment and I ask the landlord access to my package. I recieve it and head back into the car.

"What's in it?" She asks as I get back into the driver's seat.

"Funny you should ask. It's door locks. The old ones on my house I found out, where broken." I sarcastically smiled but then purely laughed at the ridiculousness of the situation.

"Oh." She looked spooked. "I uh....great?"

"I know, not an ideal situation so I'm installing these as soon as we get home." I shift the car to Drive. "Alright let's get some coffee and breakfast."

I drove a bit further and I found a breakfast diner. She and I visited the place and had breakfast and coffee.

After an hour, we left and began the drive home but before I could begin the journey, my car needed petrol.

"I'm going to stop by the gas station and get some fuel, I'm running low." I explained.

I stopped by one and started to process of connecting the pump and telling the computer what kind of fuel I needed.

I heard police sirens cry out from a block away. I saw ice shards, metal disc's, tornados and oddly electricity debris around the block.

I could sense something was not good, like not like "Oh there's a bad guy" but more like a "Oh shit this situation is absolutely terrible!"

Somethings not right, I can sense it. Something bad is going on.

I got back in the car and immediate parked it infront of the convenience store. "Em what's going on?"

"You can either come with me or stay here." I blankly said.

You already know what she chose.

She and I make our way to the block, I made sure my abilities were on to sense the energy.

But once I came to the block I noticed an awful scene.

Eques, Astral, Salvus and Glanica? Why are they all brutally hurt?!

All four of them had large wounds on them, heavily bleeding. Half the team was already knocked out. Only Eques and Salvus stood up to fight with whatever strength they had.

I couldn't recognize the guy they were fighting. The only thing I could notice is his neon blonde hair. He had no blood on him, he wasn't injured and he looked as if he could fight 5 more times. He also was the one with electricity shooting from him.

"Fiora, I'd advise you to watch your back. Things will get messy." I say to her. "Do you have faith in your ability?"

"Yes but why are we-"

"I'll explain later, short version is just that these people are my old teammates and we've gotta help them!"

Eques could barely stand. Salvus looked like he could die right there. I had to intervene.

I don't know what the hell is going on but I'm going to stop whatever the hell that is!

"Hey you fucker! Why don't you go shock yourself!?" I fired energy blades at the stranger.

The blades hit him and he noticed. Astounded, he turned around and looked at me and smiled. "Ah Emerson, EXACTLY the person I wanted to see."

I immediately stop in my tracks. "Wait how do you know-"

"Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Mojave Ubuntu and you unfortunately killed my boss. My poor, poor boss. If only he could see the huge success Project Charger had been." He generated electricity around his hands.

"Look if it's Josh Black you are referring to, I'm afraid he wasn't a poor unfortunate soul. He could have destroyed everyone so fuck you and your bull shit." I generated energy and omitted it around me.

Salvus looked at me and shook his head, Eques meanwhile barely said. "Emerson, run! He's too powerful!"

Too powerful my ass.

"How marvelous would it be for me to avenge my boss by killing his killer and his little girlfriend too!" Mojave maniacally laughed as electricity sparked all around him.

He fired a lighting bolt at me but I was quick to fire back an energy bolt back at it.

"Unfortunately for you. Electricity happens to be a form of energy and I happen to be an energy manipulator!" I grinned as I drew the electricity from the powerlines and absorbed it as raw energy.
