Chapter 22: Protests

- The Next Day, 7 AM -

I was making my way to Aurora Denfense to arrive for the meeting and to meet the new members. I decided to take my time to get there since I've been early. Mostly because I didn't sleep.

If you can figure out why bonus points for you.

But as I started to get closer, 1/2 a mile left to go I notice a huge crowd of people.

And this is not any huge crowd of people.

"DEFUND AURORA, DEFUND AURORA!"

"FUNDING AURORA IS THEFT!"

"DEFENSE IS USELESS!"

It was a protest.

Oh no no no.

Aurora Genesis stays afloat because the government finances then since they are the only private defense force that actually commits to its pledges.

However people lately have been getting angry that their taxes dollars are being spent on this and not on "better things"

"What the fuck is this for?" I mumbled to myself.

"I don't know but this is making my first day a whole lot worse Alpha." Someone says next to me.

"Excuse me do I know you?" I turn to them.

"Not yet but I know you, I'm Eques." The green and white haired, green eyed 17 year old said to me. "I'm the new member for Aurora."

"Oh wow, well. What a first day for you I guess." I sigh. "Sorry we had to meet like this. I don't know what Daniel did to cause this uproar." I apologize to the new guy.

"Maybe we can try to silently pass the protestors. We're only half a mile away." I explain to him.

"You do realize they're going that direction too right?" He adds.

Shit come to think, THEY ARE GOING TO AURORA DEFNESE.

"Ah shit." I sigh again.

Just as I said that, someone from the mob noticed me. "Hey it's THAT guy, the Alpha freak!"

Then people start chanting at me and throwing stuff at me. "Whoa whoa hold on what is all this fuss for!?" I try to reason with the mob.

"DEFUND AURORA, DEFUND AURORA, NO FUND, NO DEFENSE!" people start ranting violently.

I enact and energy barrier, thank goodness I did because people start using their ( albeit weak ) abilities on me I'm retaliate.

Eques however stands by and trys to fight off the people who are attacking me.

"Strong huh?" I say to Euques while swirling energy rings around me.

"If you count a range of 7.0 of Metal Manipulation as powerful then yes." He says while generating a suit of metal armor on him and a large, shiny, sharp sword.

Range 7.0? This guy isn't joking around! I wonder where Daniel found this guy?

I enable energy bursts in front of me to scare the crowd away and it was only effects so much.

Eques swung his sword as rapidly as he could, destroying the mobs homemade shields made of cardboard and plastic.

I generate an energy storm around us, swirling a blue tornado at speeds of upward 200 miles an hour.

"So it's true, you really are skilled with energy." Eques says to me.

"Hey don't diss yourself, range 7.0 is no easy task either!" I manipulate the energy storm to send energy shocks to anyone who tries to come near us.

Eventually our powers combined, managed to get rid of the protestors. Who by the way we still had no idea why they wanted to defund Aurora.

We calmed our powers down and the dust settled. We were both heavily breathing, it was exhausting but we managed to break through it.

"Thanks." I say to him once I caught my breath.

"Don't mention it."

"Daniel was wise in selecting you for the team Eques." I complicated him. "I wonder if he'll place you in Beta or Omega position."

"Well let's find out shall we?" He pointed to the direction of Aurora Defense. I nodded and we both made a run for it, just in case some mobsters would show up again.
