Chapter 25: You-Know-What

- The Next Day, Aurora Defense meeting room -

"This. This is the biggest task you will face for now. You each will need to corporate to investigate B.S. without getting caught. Thus you will be wearing normal pedestrian outfits and such, no fancy business around here to not draw any attention." Daniel explained to the five of us.

We all quietly agreed and he drove us there to Black Systems without making a fuss.

He dropped us off and gave us each a visitors card. "I have purchased a special VIP tour for the each of you, it's so you five can get access inside without looking suspicious. I bid you all, good luck. Make sure you each wear an in-ear headphone so you can communicate." Daniel gave us all his final word.

This was the big moment, and it was finally here.

We would investigate to see if it was B.S.' fault for causing all these rampant cases.

I sighed and looked at the four and said. "Welp, no time like the present. Let's go enjoy our tour!"

We went inside and spoke with the receptionist. We were expecting them to send a rather boring tour guide but instead we were met with someone else.

The man himself, the CEO of Black Systems. Josh Black.

"Ah, you five. You must be here for the VIP tour and I will not disappoint. I am Josh Black, CEO of Black Systems and I will be your tour guide!" Josh said rather charismatic. "Not everyday the CEO gives you a tour right?"

"Oh my, we came here on a good day! A tour from the CEO himself!" Salvus exclaimed.

"Haha a good day indeed. In fact today is such a good day I have something to show you." He led us up into an elevator and onto the fifteenth floor. He then led us into a room, a massive room at that. "This is the testing room where we of course, test our new products before we are ready to ship them." Black explained.

"You five are lucky." He smiled, he smiled in a way any girl's heart would melt. "You guys will be the first to publicly try my new Black Watch 8, it hasn't been released yet but I think you five are fit to try it. Don't you think?"

"B-but sir. Are you sure about this?" Eques said.

"But of course. Besides, I haven't had a VIP tour in so long that I thought it would be a nice gift."

"Oh wow, thank you sir." Glancia slipped on her new watch.

He doesn't seem like a bad guy. Either there's something I'm missing or this is a false flag.

Everyone puts on their new watch except me. I already had a smartwatch on and so I just put the Black one in my pocket instead.

"Now, I'll show you all to the design room on floor 25, shall we?" He clapped his hands together and charmingly smiled.

- 2 Hours Later, Executive Floor -

"And here brings us to the end of the tour. The executive room. Now this is where I of course reside and do my work. Nothing special here just my desk and some paperwork." Josh showed us.

He sat on his desk and folded his hands on his knee. "I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful tour. I hope to see you again soon."

"Thank sir for this wonderful tour." I politely said.

"It is my pleasure. Now, The exit is that way if you must and have a wonderful day." Josh pointed to a hall that held an exit sign and an elevator.

We all said our goodbyes and begun with the real mission. Investigating.

"Already Aurora." I began. "We each have to split up and do a mass scale search of the building. Look for anything that might contribute to ability upsclaing or anything related. If this goes we'll, we can meet back by 6:00 and from there we can assess the situation." I explained to the four.

"You sure we can do this Alpha?" Astral asked.

"I'm sure, Delta. Beta, remember if anything happens to me. You're in charge." I said to Eques. "Everybody stay safe, use your abilities if necessary. Alright Aurora, lets do this."

We split up and began our search. Salvus, Astral and Glancia began at the lower floors whereas Eques and I began more around the higher floors.

I started in the archives floor, to see if I could find any evidence of ability upscalers..

I zapped the energy away from the security cameras, disabling all of them in the entire building. I then electrically surged the alarm systems, frying them so they wouldn't work.

I lit the room with an energy flame in my hand and I started searching frantically through the file cabinets.

After about fifteen minutes I had found nothing meaningful.

I was starting to lose hope but I found a rather strange document.

One that would surprise me.

"What the?" I whispered. "Daniel and Josh were-"

In the file. It was a file confirming the creation of the corporation. But what struck me we're that Josh Black and Daniel Aurora had partnered to found Black Systems. This originally was their company. Not just Josh's.

I stroked my forehead after reading the file, I sighed and folded the document up and put it in my pocket.

Daniel has some explaining to do when I get back.

I heard a door slam and I jumped. I heard a man shout. "Who's in there?!"

SHIT.

I hold my breath and started to run. I turned on my ability and energy was generated throughout my body, giving me the strength to run at super car speeds.

"I know one of you is in there. Come out before I actually hurt you!" I hear though I still don't know who it is.

Shit shit SHIT WE ARE GOING TO GET CAUGHT!!!
