Chapter 37: Project Charger and Aurora Defense

"You don't understand you angst teen! You destroyed the future of Black Systems! They don't have a successor prepared and the entire company is in shambles and you ruined it! You deserve to pay for your crimes!" Mojave barked.

I don't have to pay shit.

"Nah, I'd prefer not to!" I grinned.

Mojave fired an ungodly amount of electricity, enough to shut down the power grid in the nation.

I figured he must have gotten that strong from the ability upscalers, assuming he's naming the devices "Project Charger" which makes sense.

I immediately ran into the electricity and used myself as a lighting rod to absorb the electricity.

"You don't listen do ya?" I shake my head.

I absorbed the electricity and convert it to true energy and fire the blue energy right back at him.

I dashed towards him and slashed him with several energy blades and then kicked him down and shoved an energy claw in his chest.

"I don't give two fucks about your stupid company. You and your company were going to destroy the world eventually anyways so it really doesn't pain me to do this." I say calmly.

"Wait! What are you-" Mojave freaks out. "WAIT NO!"

I drained his life force at a rapid pace. "Too late."

In seconds he was dead, it didn't matter anyways. He tried to kill Aurora Defense and probably committed a shit ton of crimes along the way.

I sigh and dust off myself. I shake off that strange feeling and rush towards the other four. "Don't worry We're going to get you an ambulance!" I explain quickly. "Fi call 911!"

"On it Em!" She replies.

I generate energy within me and I attempt to distribute it to the wounded four, trying to heal them as best as I could.

"What were guys doing fighting him anyways!?" I ask, concerned.

"Question really is, what are you doing here." Salvus weakly said.

"I-I" I answer my old teammate. "I was here to pickup a package that was sent to my old address."

"If it weren't for you we would have died." Astral gets up and coughs. "Daniel gave us a report that Mojave Ubuntu was trying to gather rebels to launch a rebellion to avenge the death of Jack Black. Mojave had an upscaler that shot his ability to above range 8.3 so we really struggled to fight him " She explains.

"There's only so much metal, wind, planets and ice can do against electricity." Eques sighs.

"Imagine what would have happened if your package didn't get mis-sent." Fiora added.

"I don't want to think about that." I shrugged. "Oh look they're here."

"Thanks for saving our asses." Salvus wiped the blood off his mouth. "I mean it, it was bad before you came."

I notice the ambulances arrive and some police cars. The medical workers helped the four in the ambulances, Fiora and I explained what had happened to the officers.

After about an hour the dust settled down and the scene was cleared.

I felt so bad, knowing how weak they were against this insane person. It wasn't even their own fault, it's just that electricity is so damn powerful - same goes for energy.

In the end, their powers weren't enough to stop it. I tried to think of different ways on how they could have pinned them down.

In the end however I reached a conclusion that there really isn't much you can do against electricity, especially at a rank that high. You pretty much have to have a power that specializes in sand or something to stop him.

"I think we can go home now." I say to my girlfriend.

"You don't want to visit them?" She asks.

"No, they had a rough day. They don't need to see me right now." I half smile. "Besides I've been dying to get home."

"Alright. You were tough out there." She rubs against me and rubs my back. "You had me on the edge the whole time."

"I don't think anything can stop me at this point." I continue. "But I will apologize for keeping you on edge."

"You don't need to apologize Em." She smiles but then she immediate had a thought. "But if you want, you can do me a favor as an apology. If you want."

"Sure, what is it?"

"Well, you can kiss me?"

We both awkwardly look each other, I start feeling cringe like but I suck it up. "OK, I can do that."

We both very slowly push our heads together and share a kiss. It was an awkward one, it was my first one so I didn't exactly know how to do it but she came to love it, I did too but I felt bad for not immediately doing it right.

"Is that better?" I ask awkwardly.

"Yes that's much better." She beams, with her face blushing. "Thank you."

We start walking back to my car and we started the drive home. After the trip we both hit the sack and took a long deserved nap.
