Scarlett's POV:
Y/n and I were so excited but also nervous when we went to see Dr Callahan. It was the first step in us trying for a baby and it felt a bit like we were stepping into the unknown. But Dr Callahan was great through it all. She's been my gynaecologist since I moved out to LA and I'm glad that she's able to help us in this journey.
She started first by talking about the IVF process and what we could expect to happen over the next couple of weeks, all the way up to hopefully giving birth. However, all through the discussion, she was very realistic though and made sure that we understood that this could be a long and difficult process.
That was something that Y/n and I are acutely aware of. We've done a bit of our own research and know the risks and success rates. We're prepared for this to take a few tries before we're successful. We know it's going to be tough, but we have each other and that's what matters.
After we talked through the process, Dr Callahan proceeded to carry out a physical examination, and ultrasound and also took some blood so that I could have everything checked. Y/n holds my hand through it all and I'm glad we're doing this together.
With all that done, Dr Callahan gave us some information of donors and explained the process for that. I found it so weird as she showed us one of the sites, it was like Amazon for sperm. You pick the traits and things you want, and it spits out a load of potential matches. From there you can filter and everything. 5 years ago, I never would have thought this was how I would end up getting pregnant, but I'm all in now.
Dr Callahan told us that it'll take about a week for the test results to come back and for her to be able to confirm if we're able to proceed. We had a long week ahead of us. A nervous one at that.
Thankfully, we had a distraction at the weekend with holding a painting party at the café. Y/n hadn't taken Ava or I recently as she wanted us to see it once the contractors are done. We head over earlier than the others so she can show us around. I've already seen the shop front. I may have created a sneaky social media account purely for the chance to follow the Instagram account that Hannah set up for the cafe. It was a good way to keep up to date with what was going on whilst I was away and also to provide support from a far. Even if it was just liking or commenting on a post.
Y/n has all the paint in the back of the car, and I must admit, I don't think that I have ever seen so many cans of it in my life! I've been really impressed with how Sophie and Y/n have approached this. They are pragmatic and hiring people for the things that are most important, but then saving money where they can on things like this.
We've got a lot coming to help us today. Obviously, Y/n's parents are coming, Matt and his family are coming to support Sophie. Then we have Lizzie and Robbie, Evans, Tom, Zendaya, Hemsworth and Seb. With that many people, I know we're going to get it all finished today.
Y/n pulls up to the parking spot behind the café and Ava and I get out, excited to see what it's looking like so far. Y/n walks us to the front of the café where the windows are covered up at the moment, in preparation for painting. "Wow, those signs look great Y/n." I tell her as Ava, and I take in the new addition. "Sophie did a great job didn't she. We've had a few people stop by whilst we're here asking when we're opening which is exciting." She shares with us as she unlocks the door.
When we walk in, I'm shocked at the difference. It's like I've walked into a different building than I did last time I was here. There's a new serving counter and the small bar area is set up too. Fridges have been installed, and I notice there are plenty for drinks in there for us today. There is a professionally built stage in the corner and the elements ready for Y/n to install the music system.
