That day, Cole almost ran to the coffee shop despite being right on time, if not a little earlier than usual. The excitement flowing through him was more powerful than the caffeine could ever be.

"Hey."

"Hi!"

The only thing that kind of wrecked his plans was the fact that the preparation of his coffee took a little bit longer than usual. Cole fumbled with the money in his hands, he couldn't give it to Kai right away.

Luckily, his favourite cashier was too preoccupied with him to notice that.

"How was the dinner?"

"I feel like a spoiled child."

"So you loved it."

"Love is a strong word since you weren't there with me." It was kind of fun, he had to admit to himself, getting Kai flustered like such. It was somewhat mischievous in a romantic way.

"Shut up."

He would have to keep his remark for some other day.

The coffee was ready and waiting on the counter. Cole gave Kai the money as carefully as possible, then took the cup and rushed out of there as if he didn't just pay for it.

And then, once he was far enough, he pulled out his phone to be met with,

WHAT
ARE YOU KIDDING??

which brought another smile to his face.
