"All right, we've got drinks, pizzas are in the oven, we've got music, we've got movies... Am I forgetting something?"
"Hmm... Pillows, blankets... No, I think we've got it all."
"Perfect!" Kai clapped his hands together. "Well, I'm gonna make sure the food's edible and you make yourself comfortable meanwhile... And don't start without me!"
"Sure!" Cole called back but Kai was already disappearing into the kitchen again. He fluffed up the pillows some more and snuggled up in one of the blankets. They already found the perfect spot and angle for the laptop to be, they had some background music playing silently, all that was left were said pizzas and their delicious smell was slowly starting to spread through the entire place.
The only thing Cole had to do now was wait and not drink everything before they even start the movie. But the thing Cole was actually excited about was when Kai finally settles down next to him and they spend most of the night close to each other, laughing at some ridiculous horror.
Soon, Kai finally emerged from the kitchen with two plates, making the smell that made Cole salivate with delight stronger.
"Your order, sir." He bowed and Cole chuckled, taking one of the plates from him.
"Thank you kindly, mister."
He thoughts they were ready to start but Kai didn't sit down yet. They began lighting some candles up, then went to turn off the overhead light, so the room was mainly dark, except for the tiny flames and one lamp in the corner.
"Now, that's better, isn't it? You can't watch a bunch of people get butchered without some romantic lighting."
Cole would have liked to ignore how the last couple of words made him feel but it was a rather difficult task once Kai finally sat down next to him and their arms brushed against each other. Maybe it wasn't the best time to start regretting making their seating so close, however, Cole wouldn't have liked it any other way. It was difficult. Why did feelings have to be so difficult?
Worst of all were Kai's mixed messages. Maybe they weren't messages at all or maybe they weren't mixed at all but it all made Cole's head spin, he had no idea what to think anymore. He should just listen to all the quotes and enjoy the moment.
"I hope you chose something good." Kai took a sip as they pressed play and the movie slowly began.
"I choose only the good things."
"Sure." Kai bumped him with his shoulder and Cole bumped him back, then their attention was (supposed to be) solely focused on the movie.
Although, Cole found himself spacing out several times, especially whenever Kai leaned on him more or when he took his hand and linked their arms or when he put his head on his shoulder or when he just stared at his face instead of the laptop screen. This wasn't the kind of closeness he imagined at first, Cole assumed he would be lucky to have their legs or arms touch, he had no idea how snuggly Kai would get but hey, he couldn't complain at all. At one point, he forgot about the movie completely and simply focused on the soft intimacy.
Of course, he was pulled out of his thoughts every once in a while when Kai would yell at the screen because the characters were being overly stupid and Kai couldn't just sit by and watch as they cause their own deaths.
"Master, these people will never learn, I can't even feel bad for them."
He didn't even notice when the movie ended.
Kai picked up what was left of his pizza and offered it to Cole, "Do you want this? I'm full."
Absent-mindedly eating Kai's half-eaten pizza slice, he watched out of the corner of his eye as Kai picked up their hands (with their fingers still intertwined just how they were for the majority of the movie) and observed them closer.
