Driving down the highway, Can stared ahead of him, at battle with himself over going home and going back. The hurt and betrayal from hearing what Sanem said had his eyes tearing up and him biting back the emotion. He couldn't believe she lied. He trusted her more than anyone and she lied.
I have to know why. Maybe it's not as big as it seems.
He makes a U-turn at the first available section and goes back. He could barely see but he needed answers. There's no more running Sanem...no more...
-
"Thank you but I'll take another taxi. Yours is full," Sanem says to Mehmet as they all get into taxis to go home.
She was still hoping that Can just went somewhere really fast and that he'd come back for her once he sees her message or her missed calls. She waves them off and looks at the amusement park behind her, smiling. I'm alone now, Can, you can stop hiding.
Her face breaks into a wider smile when she sees his car pulling up five minutes later.
I knew he'd come back!
The tyres schreech to a halt and she jumps back a step, almost giggling at his scare attempt.
The door opens and Can gets out, the lights of the car switching off with the engine. "Sanem," Can growls and slams the cardoor, walking fast and rigid around to her.
"Can, I called you, your phone - "
"Sanem, do you have something to say to me? If you do, say it." He clenches his jaw, his hands going to his hips.
Sanem blinks up at him. Huh? "What?"
He stares at her, breathing through his nose. Okay, hard ball then. "Sanem, I'm tired of the games, I'm over it. Okay? I heard you talking to Emre."
What? Where...? How did you...? Sanem stares up at him in shock. No...
"Your plan to leave me? That we won't last. I heard everything."
Sanem swallows, her lie finally catching up. She didn't know how to respond. What to say. "Can - " She blinks at the tears in her eyes, her voice sounding like someone else's.
"Sanem," he purses his lips and looks away from her. "Why are you dragging it out? Break up with me now. Don't tell other people what you plan on doing, tell me and do it. Look into my eyes, look at my face and tell me you don't want me anymore." He points at his face and her eyes roam it, her chest rising up and down fast. His eyes were full of hurt and anger. "Break up with me now, do it," he insists, his tone getting more furious.
"Can, please - "
"What were you thinking about gaining out of this?" He steps back and turns to her, his hands over his chest. "I believed you when you said you love me. Like a fool I believed everything you told me. But - "
"Can I - "
"What is it Sanem?"
"I - "
"Do you really want to break up? Hm? Sanem? Is that what you want?"
Sanem looks down, tears falling as he leans into her face.
"Do you really want to break up?" he repeats desperately, seeing the way she avoided his eyes.
Sanem swallows the lump in her burning throat. "Yes," she says in a small voice.
Can's eyebrows twitch up as he looks at her, his lips parting slightly in surprise. She's serious? Worse than any punch he's ever gotten in the ring during training, it feels like she just kicked him in the gut. "Yes?" he asks. After a few seconds of just looking at her, he nods and stands up straight. "Why?" Not that I want to know, but I have to. "Why?" he asks again when she looks up.
