Chapter 26: Final Confrontations

Rudy POV

    After a peaceful night and a good sleep under the stars. I felt well rested and ready for what's to come later on in the day. All I could hear around me was the quietness of the desert. It was the third day of this hellish game. With every little noise and movement I became more paranoid and aware of my surroundings. The realization had hit me as I sat on the sand by the water that the games were almost over. There were only five more tributes beside myself to take out. However, there was no time to be distracted. I have to continue surviving and get back to Finnick and my family.

    I can cry my eyes out later along with a mental breakdown after I get out of this arena alive. While, I was resting and thinking about all this. I heard a beeping sounding that notified me that I got something from three different sponsors.

    The first package that I opened was the staple bread from district 4. Each district has their own unique type of bread that they make. The package was from district 4. It was probably the influence of my father, mother, and brother that helped to get me this piece of bread. I looked up at the sky and whispered a thank you.

    The next package was from a random man from the capitol trying to gain favor with me. I nodded my head in thanks for the beautiful but deadly dagger. I just don't want to know what the idiot wants in return for this expensive gift. I worry about it later. Now, I have a close range weapon to protect myself with instead of my long range weapon.

    The last package was from my lovely husband, Finnick. I opened the package and I saw a note that laid on top of a healing cream salve. The note read:

"Finish this, my love and Use this cream heals up your beautiful smooth skin. I love you always and all for eternity. - Finnick"

I smiled at the beautiful handwritten note and looked up at the sky where the cameras shined on me. I gave the camera a big bright smile and whispered " I love you" in hopes Finnick gets my message. He better watch when he did send this gift to me, afterall.

After opening every package that I received, I decided to stay at my current location for a while. I applied the healing cream on my bite wound and bandaged it up again. The cream worked wonderfully and it lessened the pain that throb in that area. I ate the bread that I had gotten and drank some water to satisfy my thirst from the blazing hot sun. Things were peaceful during the morning. However, by the time it was noon, I heard a loud scream from a girl that sounded nearby.

Boom!

There goes the poor girl from district 5. I left the safety of my home base by the pond to go check things out stealthy. I got to see the career pack and the dead girl laying on the floor with a pool of blood under her. I knew I had to get a move on, and get away from them to better my chances of survival. The group of four was close by for comfort. However, lady luck was not shining on me today. The group felt that someone was watching them. I still was unseen but they knew I was around there somewhere. I could hear the girl from district 2 say in a manic laughter,"Come out pretty boy! We know you're here! Let's finish this," she said while her allies laughed alongside her.

I decided to move away from my current location and get back to my home base. I left quietly and got a huge distance away from the group. However, without me realizing it, the girl from district 2 left the pack. She left behind Shelly and the two male tributes. She went rogue and wanted the taste of blood.

While running, I heard something coming at me. It was the district 2 girl in the middle of an action that would get a knife implanted into my neck. Next thing I know I grabbed onto her wrist before the dagger got anywhere near me. With my other free hand, I grabbed onto the knife that cut into the palm of my hand to take away the knife. I was successful in doing so. After that I moved my body to knock her down onto the ground by kicking her feet right from under her.
