Chapter 40: Interviews and the 75th Hunger Games

Finnick POV

The day of the interviews had arrived after the exciting little meet up on the rooftop. I explained to Mags what had occurred and she agreed to do her part as well. 

For the interview today, I don't have much to say. The only message I want to give is to my love and for my little boy as well. 

Now, I am here waiting for my name to be called so I can say what I want to say. Mags was currently on the stage for a good little bit until my name was called out.

“From district 4, the capitol’s darling, give it up for Finnick Odair,” said Caesar. Cheers could be heard coming from the crowd as I walked out onto the stage with a charming smile that was totally fake. I just went on ahead to smile and waved at the crowd. I also smile straight into the camera. I went on to shake Caesar’s hand as he said,” Welcome here once again Finnick. I understand that you have a message for your loving prince and a special little one.”

I had to hold back my grimace and anger for them letting out that I have a son. What else do I expect? All these people are nosy for their own good. 

“Can we all hear your message?,” said Caesar. 

I went on to say yes. I began to look down for a moment while trying to blink away the tears forming in my eyes. I took a deep breath and went on to look straight towards the camera.

“My love, you have my heart for all eternity. And if I die in that arena, my last thought will be of your lips. My last thought will be how much I love you for alway and forever. Know this I will always be with you. 

My little shark, Daddy, loves you with all his heart. Grow up big and strong. Take care of your papa for me. While I’m gone,” I said. 

The crows gasped and awed at the words that I had to say to my love and my little boy. I only wish to always be by their side. I missed them dearly. After my little message, I walked over to join the other tributes on our selected podium. I hope you felt the sincerity of my words and my love through the screen. Towards the end of every tributes’ interview we all stood together holding each others’ arms up in the air for everyone to see we are united as one for now. 

Rudy POV

During the day of the interviews of the tributes, All my family and I were together at my house and preparing to watch the live interviews. When Finnick appeared live on television, my heart throbbed at how much I missed him.

“Papa!Papa! Look, it's Daddy!,” yelled Caspian in excitement at seeing Finnick. 

“Yes. Yes, I can see Caz. Let’s listen to what daddy has to say,” I said.

Each word out of Finnick’s mouth brought tears to my eyes. I just couldn’t hold back my sobs and how much I was missing and worrying about him. My mom and dad were sitting right next to me while I was in between them on the couch. Caspian was on the floor by my legs playing with his shark plushie. When I started to cry my parents put their hands on my back to rub along with giving me a side hug.

“Everything's going to be fine, Sweety,” said my mom.

“That boy has guts. He is strong and smart. He will come back home, my little prince,” aid my dad. I just nodded my head at them in agreement to what they had said. While my parents were consoleing me, little Capian was watching us. Caspian was taking his Dad’s word to heart. 

“Don’t worry daddy! I look after papa! I love you too!,” yelled Caspian to the t.v and all of us in the room. I could not help but smile and giggle at my little boy’s proclamation. On the other hand, I’m gonna have some words with Finnick for putting things in our son’s head. However, I will allow it the time due to the situation that we are currently in.
