Chapter 28: Banquet
Rudy Pov
After my little meltdown, Finnick helped me by whispering sweet word to me and holding me in his arms. We spent a good amount of time in the abandoned room together. It took a while with Finnick’s help to put myself back together. However, as time tick on, we have to leave the room to head off to the banquet that is held for the victor of the hunger games each year. Finnick is going to escort me to the victory banquet that was on the same day of the interview. On our way there, Finnick began to talk to me.
“My love, I will be by your side all night long so don’t worry,” said Finnick.
“I will hold you up to it, Finnick,” I said. While we got into a car to be driven off to the banquet hall. We got comfortable in the backseat and continued to talk with one another.
“So, when you walk into the banquet hall you're going to meet the other victors who are currently in the capitol for the games or here for business. They are fine people. You don’t have to worry about them much. They went through the exact thing that you're going to go through.
“Then the victors? They won't hate me? I did kill their tributes,” I said.
“They won’t hold any grudges against you because that will make them hypocrites and assholes. We all know and have been through it. So, there will be understanding and common interest between us all. Along with the victors, you will be walking through the ballroom meeting some capital people that help sponsor you or just want the chance to meet you,” said Finnick.
“I’m glad to hear that they won’t hold a grudge against me for killing their tributes. At least meeting them will be awkward, but I will get over it somehow. Also, Please tell the people I’m going to meet are not the ones who want to get into my pants,” I said.
“No! You will not meet those types of people alone. I will be with you when you do. I have to scare them away after all. However, at some point I will have to leave your side, but the people you do meet will be pleasant to some standards. You just have to push through my love. Are you going to be fine?,” said Finnick.
“Yes, I will be fine. I can do it!,” I said.
“I know you can, my love,” said Finnick. We finally arrived at our destination. We got out of the car and walked up a flight of stairs. We reach the doors that lead to the banquet hall. Finnick was right by my side with his arms around my waist. Right outside the door which leads into a small room where the other victors are at. Finnick whispered in my ear,” your going to be okay, Rudy. It is just the victors for now until we head into the main hall where all the people are gathered. You will be safe. I promise,” said Finnick,
We walked through the doors with calmness and uncertainty. Once in the room, I saw all the past victors of past hunger games, standing around waiting to greet me. With Finnick by my side, arms linked together, we went on to greet each victor one by one before heading into the main hall. I went on to shake everyones’ hands from each district. I didn’t have enough time to talk to everyone properly and get to know them.
However, when I reached to greet Haymitch I knew I wanted to talk to him for a bit. “Lover boy,” Haymitch said with a grunt while shaking my hand.
“Haymitch,” I greeted back.
“Glad to see you here alongside this brat,” said Haymitch pointing at Finnick.
“I’m not a brat, Haymitch. I am a well defined gentleman. You're just trying to ruin my love’s view of me,” said Finnick. Both Haymitch and I looked at Finnick weirdly and began to laugh at him while he tried to act like a proper wealthy high end gentleman. Finnick can either make a huge fool of himself or make himself look like a man to be desired for at times. However, I love him for all his flaws and perfectness.
