Chapter 37: Interlude

Chapter 37: Interlude: Katniss, Peeta, and Haymitch

Third Person

“Cashmere and Gloss, brother and sister, District . They won back to back games. They are the capital's favorites to win. They will have lots of sponsors, and will be lethal,” said Haymitch as he lectured Katniss and Peeta as he paced in front of the screen.

“From district 2, Brutus and Enobaria,” said Haymitch as he clicked his remote to change the screen. 

“What’s with her teeth?,” asked Katniss while she scowled. 

“She had them filed into fangs so she can rip peoples’ throats out,” said Haymitch with a smirk. 

“She’s committed. I’ll give her that,” said Peeta as a joke. 

“Wiress and Beetee. Not fighters, but brilliant. And.. weird, real tech-savvy. Beetee won his games by electrocuting six tributes at one time. Next are the morphings. Masters of camouflage. Basically they won there games by hiding until everyone else was dead. They are self- medicating ever since their games, Which I applaud. I have no room to judge. I fell in love with my bottles. They are not a threat,” said Haymitch as he clicked the remote again.

Finnick’s picture has appeared on the screen. 

“Finnick Odair right?,” said Katniss. She immediately recognises the next victor on the screen.

“Yes,” said Haymitch with a nod of his head.

“He won his games at 14 years old, the youngest ever. Extremely humble.,” said Haymitch. 

“You’re kidding,” said Katniss with a scoffed. 

“Yes, I’m kidding. He’s a peacock,” said Haymitch as he flipped his hair.

“A total preener. But he’s the capital's darling. They love him here along with his husband. He is charming, smart, and very skilled in combat especially in water,” said Haymitch.

“What about weaknesses?,” asked Peeta. 

“Three but you will have to worry about one,” said Haymitch as he clicked the remote to have Mag's picture appear on the screen.

“Mags, she volunteered for Annie,” said Haymitch as they watched Mags volunteer for a distraught girl who had just been reaped. 

“Mags is old and won her games back when,” said Haymitch. 

“He doesn’t expect her to survive right?,” said Katniss. 

“Well then Katniss. I will say that she is one sweet woman that anybody could meet,” said Haymitch.

“Right,” said Katniss.

“What’s his other weaknesses,” asked Peeta.

“Rudy Wolfstein. Better known now as Rudy Wolfstein- Odair or the capital's trickster prince. Finnick’s husband and the one half the Capitol’s darling couple. Count yourself lucky that he was not called to be a tribute in these games. If he was then you both would have died by his hands along with everyone else. Finnick and Rudy have been best friends since they were children themselves. They got married after Rudy’s games and have been together ever since. Anyone will be hard pressed to find someone here who doesn’t like him. He is an expert in manipulating people’s viewpoints as well as expert in close combat and all types of weapons. He is one scary smart young man. He also set the record of the fastest games and the most kills in a game. Know this though whoever tries or successfully kills Finnick will have Rudy on their back to eliminate them from this life. He will chase you to the end of the earth to get his revenge. However, now Finnick and Rudy are absoluteing lethal. Do not underestimate Finnick,” said Haymitch.

“Well he is not here. Finnick is. He is not all that pleasant to be around,” Katniss mumbled. 

“He is looking for allies so keep an open mind,” said Haymitch.

“Yea, right. I know who I’m going to ally with. Most likely Mags or Beetee,” said Katniss.

“Think seriously Katniss. These people are not kids but winners of their own hunger games. Don’t cross any of them. If you cross Finnick then you will sign your death certificate by having an angry husband hunting you down. Also, Finnick has something else he fighting for besides his husband?,” said Haymitch.

“What?,” said Katniss.

“Finnick and Rudy have something they have that they didn’t before. They have a son to fight for now. Finnick will be even more lethal. Try to be nice or neutral. So, keep an eye out for potential allies,” said Haymitch.

Katniss just nodded her head. Peeta just said okay and agreed with all that Haymitch had to say. Haymitch did not have to worry about Peeta because Peeta is outgoing and likable. However, Katniss is stubborn and getting her to talk is like pulling teeth from a crocodile. 

After the short presentation, Haymitch went back drinking, Katniss did her own thing, and Peeta went to do some research.

A/n: Very short chapter o I will be posting chapter 38 right after this one. So, there will no new chapter tomorrow probably???
