Chapter 52: Squad 451

Finnick POV

Out the door I went and I took off in a run to go meet up with my probably annoyed and mad team members. Once, I had arrived at the area I was supposed to be at. I was out of breath. I went on ahead and barged into the meeting room. When I did so, I had cared for some sleepy people and others had annoyed expression plaster on their faces including Katniss, the girl on fire.

I looked at everyones’ faces who were in the room currently and I noticed a new face in the room. The new face and addition is Peeta. It looks like he is joining the squad even though his brain has been rewired. Things will be alright due to his closeness to Katniss. By the look of things, it seems that Katniss has been helping Peeta recover from his horrors from his time being held captive by the capitol. It also seems like she is helping him find himself and helping him remember who he really is. However, there is still room to be cautious around him until he can prove himself that the things the capitol put in his head will not affect him and affect the mission at hand.

“Pretty boy! You're late to the meeting,” yelled Boggs.

“You should have been here over an hour ago,” said Gale.

“I know. I know, but a family emergency had occurred o I had to handle those things first,” I said.

“What emergency was so important that you missed our meeting time,” asked Boggs.

“It was probably something to do with his looks,” joked Katniss.

“No, it is not due to my looks, Katniss. The emergency that my family had was that my husband had gone into labor. Just recently my second son was born today,” I said.

“Wow,” said Boggs.

“Congratulations,” said Gale.

“Congrats on being a dad once again. Alos, who allowed you to pre-procreate,” said Katniss. 

“Thank you, Boggs, Gale, and everyone. Katniss. If you have to know who allowed me to pre-procreate, then I was allowed because I am hot and I have a sexy husband that loves having sex with me. Plus, the way my husband cries and moans in bed with me I could tell he enjoys our baby making sections,” I aid with a smirk on my face.

Everyone in the room started to laugh at what I said and at Katniss due to her embarrassment and her red blushing face.

“Too much information, Finnick,” said Boggs.

“Anyways, you had a very good reason for why you are late,” said Gale.

“Now, that you are here. It is time for us to discuss our plans of action before we head out to do our mission,” said Boggs. Katniss went on to nod her head in agreement.

“Before we get started, I want to say I won’t be able to go on this upcoming mission. I have to stay here and take care of my newborn son, my 4 year old son, and my bed bound husband,” I said. 

“Finnick, you have a duty to due here,” said Boggs.

“Boggs, lay off him,” said Katniss.

“Boggs? Katniss is right,” said Gale.

Shortly after my big shocking news, an argument had started between the members of squad 451 about me going or not. I went on to decide to cut things down before things get more heated.

“Everyone, Shut-up!,” I yelled.

Everyone got quiet after me yelling at everyone to shut-up.

“My first priority is my family, o I am not going to this mission. However, before I leave this room and let you guys go. I got new information that will be helpful on this upcoming mission to assassinate Snow. It also seems like you guys have a replacement for me on the squad for this mission,” I said while pointing at Peeta. 

“Yes Peeta is joining the squad under Katniss supervision,” said Boggs.

“What new information did you learn?,” aske Katniss.

“Should we be worrying about the information being true?,” asked Gale.

“The information is valuable and correct. It will help save lives in this mission. Even if the information is true or not. There will still be some deaths in the mission due to how dangerous it is,” I said.

“What do you mean?,” asked Katniss. 

Others in the room were looking at me waiting to hear more.

“The mission to the capitol to assassinate Snow will be harder than we all thought It would be. I learned from my source that Snow had laid traps. A lot of traps in the route we had planned to take. At the end of the day, it is the only available route to take to get to Snow,” I said.

“Well that uck balls,” said Boggs.

“We all knew what we signed up for so continue on with the rest of the information you were going to tell us, Finnick,” said Gale.

“Yes, please continue,” said Katniss. I went on to nod my head at them.

“It look like this mission will be a suicidal one. Most of everyone can or will die to achieve the goal of the mission. However, things can be prevented if you all go in carefully and watch your steps. Be observant of your surroundings and be aware. I also learned that Snow keeps white lizard mutts as a backup to his traps if they fail to keep people at bay,” I said.

“Shit,” said Boggs and Gale. Katniss had been thinking and letting the information sink into her head. The others in the room were worried about the information.

“What do you recommend we do?,” asked Boggs.

“I say that when you guys are on route that you guys pot ¾’s of the way there and just set up some bombs. The bombs will at least help you guys escape and help you fool Snow that you guys are dead down there as well,” I said.

“We still have to kill Snow though,” said Katnis.

“Yes, you do, but an opportunity will open up for you guys to do so. You all will just have to wait for the perfect time to kill him,” I said.

“Well thanks for the information Finnick,” said Boggs.

“Yeah, Thanks. This information will help us a lot with our planning,” said Gale.

“Yeah, thank you,” said Katniss with a look of dissatisfaction due to her not being able to kill Snow on the same day or earlier as planned. 

“I wish you guys luck and stay safe out there,” I said to them all.

“Yes, we will,” said Boggs.

“You can go back to your husband and family, Finnick,” said Gale.

“Yes, they probably need you now more than us,” said Katniss.

“Thanks for everything. Stay safe and make it back here alive. If not, then just know that it was a pleasant time working with you all, Godspeed,” I said.

“Likewise,” said Gale and Boggs.

“Take care of yourself as well Katniss,” I said to her.

“I will. I promise. I have something to fight for after all,” said Katniss. While I look at her, I saw her smiling while looking at Peeta and him back to her as well.

“Good-bye to all of you, then,” I said once more and the last time that day.

“Godspeed, Finnick,” said everyone in the room as they watched me leave the room and said their good-byes to me. After all that, I left that room with a heavy heart but also happy that I got to tell them all the information that I had learned from Rudy. I just hope that they heed my words. I wish them the best of luck and their safe return to base camp.
