Chapter 32: Sick? and a Big Surprise

Rudy POV

Couple of weeks went by after my birthday night. I had been waking up feeling nauseous and sick for the last week. Finnick was worried because it had been happening for a few days now. Finnick would rub my back as I threw up inside the toilet. I just felt like I couldn’t keep anything down. I ate something and next you know I am throwing it back up.

“My love, I think we should go to see a doctor. You have been waking up sick for quite some time now,” said Finnick.

“Yes, I think we should. I am getting tired of throwing up every morning and even different hours of the day,” I said back to him.

That day we decided to see a doctor and what we learned would change our lives forever. We got out of bed and went on ahead to shower with one another. We got dressed and headed out of the door to the doctor’s office here in district 4. We did not expect the news that we will receive later today. I should have known but let’s just call it my lack of judgment and me being an idiot.  We took our time to get to the doctor’s office. We soaked up the beautiful day full of clear skies. We enjoyed our walk under the blazing sun and chilling cold breeze that the ocean created. 

Once we arrived at the doctor’s office, we went right inside to check in. We waited a good while because there were other people waiting to see the doctor as well. It took about an hour to be able to get into a room and see a doctor. 

When my name was called, I got up from my seat along with Finnick. A nurse leads us through a hallway. She took my height and weight. She also asked me what brought me here today. I went on to explain to her what I was feeling and I have been feeling nauseous every morning. After that she led us both towards an examination room to wait on the doctor.

Finnick and I waited in the room for another while. I sat on the bed in the middle of the room. Finnick sat at a chair that was on the right side of the medical bed. Time ticked on and it was silent in the room. Finnick and I did not talk at all. I could tell Finnick was nervous and worried it was something serious going on with me. He is such a worry wart. I couldn’t help but smile at how much he cares about me and my health. I knew in my gut that it was nothing serious so I went on to calm Finnick down. I told him it probably was a stomach flu or a bad cold. When I said that Finnick settled down for a bit. 

When the doctor knocked on the door to let us know he was coming in. He walked right in to see me seated on the medical bed and Finnick right next to me holding my hand.

The doctor went on to ask questions about my health. He asked me for my symptoms and what was going on with me. I went on to explain to him about how I was feeling nauseous the past few days and sometimes I would get light headed as well. He thought it might be a cold or the flu, but he decided to take a blood test and a urine test to just make sure it is nothing serious besides the common flu. You know how things go when you visit the doctor. It took a long while to receive back the results. It was probably due to the doctor seeing other patients first or just the long wait time for results. 

Finnick and I were in the examination waiting and talking to one another. We weren’t that nervous because the doctor had claimed that it was nothing serious. However, in the back of our minds we couldn’t help  but think of all the possibilities that could explain why I feel the way I am. 

The doctor finally came back to the room along with a nurse beside him. The thing that was weird was that they brought in an ultrasound machine. When I saw the ultrasound things began to click within my mind and when the dots connected I reached a conclusion why I was waking up nauseous every morning and at odd hours of the day. I was pregnant for about six weeks or a few days. I probably got pregnant on my birthday. I guess sex wasn’t the only present that Finnick gave me.
