Chapter 45: Bombings

Rudy POV

Time went on in this dreadful place. It had been a few days since Finnick and I had late night fun. I never could wrap my head around how things were run in district 13. It didn’t feel any different from living in any other districts. We were still watched and monitored. We have some form of freedom but it is limited. At least, I was left alone while I minded my own business. I was practically invisible to all these people and Coin. That’s good,right? It just means that they won’t expect anything from me. I could live with that.

Days turned into weeks and Finnick was better than he was when arrived here in district 13. Finnick started going into meetings alongside Katniss to discuss and Plan on ideas and actions for the rebellion. While Finnick did so, I was making time to be with my family like always. I would say that I am getting to be a little paranoid of my surroundings and the thought of Finnick leaving any moment and disappearing from this life. I know it is a little bit morbid and driving myself crazy thinking about this stuff. Nevertheless, I am putting all my trust in Finnick’s words and his whole being as well. I know Finnick will do things that are right for our family and the unknown around us. Finnick is a good man with a good head on his shoulders. It is okay to be selfish at times though, tight?

When you love someone you never want to see them hurt or gone. So, individuals will go through different lengths to protect there loved ones and I know Finnick is that type of person. I might not be joining the cause of fighting in battles. However, I will help support and do what I can to help. I’m going to be honest here, I more likely to support Finnick more than anyone else because I am more invested in him and in love with him. At the end of the day, I am a father and husband first then whatever else I have to be after that then finally the last thing I will be is a mindless soldier. 

One day after, Peeta’s third interview about how wonderful the capitol is and how Katniss should turn herself in. There was other propaganda stuff as well and the capitol was trying to convince the people not to rebel or riot. It looks like Snow and the others’ in the capitol are losing power through their greedy fingers. (Timeline is 1 month after the last sexual encounter between Finnick and Rudy.)

Finnick, Caspian, my parents, Leon, and I were hanging out and having family time as a until like every day. Family is the most important thing right now. WWe spent time with each other to show our love for one another and enjoy our remaining peace as well. We rather have things this way then build relationships with fickle people that would stab you in your back if you disagree with them and disagree with their precious president Coin. However, that was not the problem right now. 

The problem is that a loud warning siren goes off throughout the compound. The sirens and voices coming from the speakers were urgent. It was telling people to evacuate into the lower levels and into the bunkers in district 13. If you are wondering what is happening, then the capitol is about to rain down bombs all over district 13. 

The bombings were about to begin due to the leaked information from the captured individuals that were held in the capitol. I could not blame them for giving up the information because they were being tortured and abused for it. All it was worth for getting information from them.

Once the sirens that are going off and blaring all around us. People started to scream and panic.. Things were pure chaos outside our doors. I got out of my hock state of panic and screamed out to Finnick.

“Finnick! Grab Caspian! We got to go to the bunkers fast!,” I said.

“I’m on it!,” said Finnick.

“Mom! Dad! Go! Head to the bunkers as well! Finnick and Caspian will be with you. Then Leon and I will be right behind you guys, alright,” I said.
