Lorenzo's POV

"They're over here sir." I thanked the guard as he led me to the old couple's temporary room, one that they're being held captive in. Why do I even feel nervous right now? They should feel nervous to see me.

Before pushing the door open, I looked over to my shoulder to see Andrew give me a nod. I let out a sigh as I quickly opened the door, the both of them standing up in surprise at the sudden visitor. Or should I say inspection.

"My my." I muttered, seeing them. The both of them have their mouths agape, staring back at me. "Good to see the two of you again."

"Oh dear, we thought something bad happened to you, we even sent people out to search for--" I raised a hand, stopping them from talking more.

"Cut the crap." I scoffed, they still are acting even though they are being held captive. "Do you know why you're here?"

The two of them stared at each other, giving each other a knowing look. "No, but Lorenzo, you have to tell them that we shouldn't be here and that we're innocent. We helped you." The old lady, I vaguely remember her name being Lorelie pleaded.

I heard a scoff from behind me. Even Andrew finds it funny how they are still acting like they have done nothing wrong when they are already being held captive, their government literally sent them over.

I just shook my head. "You know, your own government is the one who agreed to have you sent over here."

"Come on, son. My wife literally stitched you up here, you can't be keeping us captive here." The older man spoke, walking closer. I wanted to gag at how he called me son, they tried to kill me. Literally. How can he even call me son after something like that. It's ridiculous.

"Well then," I cleared my throat, looking down at the floor first then continuing. "The two of you are under arrest and further investigation under the government of Altaria for attempted murder."

It was funny how both of their eyes widened at the same time, I wanted to say this is staged but it probably isn't. They're so dedicated to this act they put on that they don't even need to stage what they do or what they say. It comes naturally. "How is that even possible?" Lorelie asked.

"Well, I should ask you that. How is that possible?"

"We've been in our town the entirety of the war, till all the way when some people arrested us and took us here. Which reminded me, how are you doing dear, the last time we saw you, you can't even stand up properly, how are you healing?"

I faked a smile at them, two can play this game. "I'm doing much better as you can see, I'm working again. Thanks to you for patching me up."

She just smiled back, which is terrifying because you couldn't even see an ounce of wicked fakeness in it. Guess they've already mastered the genuine smile then. "That's good to hear, we were wondering what happened to you after you went out that day. You never came back."

"Fortunately, I met someone I knew and got back home safely. Sorry that I didn't get to say goodbye." I can see how she was suppressing an outburst of any sort as her jaw was clenching, very hard.

"That's good to know, as long as you're safe." I wanted to cringe, this is too much. I just hate people who are fake, especially if there is a bad motive. "Oh, did you get to see your wife?"

I was about to answer when Andrew suddenly cut in. "His wife is the one who took him home, along with me and two other people. Thank you for taking him in with your kind hospitality." He just gave her a genuine smile, if I didn't know any better I would have thought he meant it, but he's just playing along as well.
