Lorenzo's POV
It's been about five days since I woke up here, and even though it's not that obvious, the old couple has been keeping an eye on me. They are probably thinking why I'm not dying yet, unfortunately they underestimated my abilities.
From what I have observed, whenever I try to stand up or walk around they appear in my room. And somehow, they love giving me glasses of water. When I told them I am able to stand up and get my own glass they insisted that they should do it for me instead, and that, is the most suspicious thing you could do.
Good thing they put me in the room with a door leading to the outside world, rookie mistake I guess. Maybe they should have left the job to younger people.
"Hi," The old lady, Lorelie, pushed open the door, bringing me another glass of water. "How are you feeling today?"
"Just the same," I faked a smile at her. That's not true though, I feel way better than the last couple of days. "You know, maybe for a better recovery I should go out and get some fresh air."
Her eyes widened a little, probably in shock at my request. "S-Sure, I can come with you if you'd like."
I just shook my head, sitting up a little. "No, it's fine. I've been a big enough burden to you already." I laughed. I love being as fake as the other person. "I'll just go walk around and explore the town a little, haven't really seen anything yet since I came here you know."
"Um," She stopped and thought for a second. "Sure, be careful though, okay? You're still healing from those wounds." She forced a smiled out.
Again, a rookie mistake.
I returned the smile with a nod as I stood up slowly, I mean it still hurts, but it's still bearable. "Can I go out through this door or should I use the front door?"
"You can go through that one. Remember to call for help if something happens okay?" She said as she helped me open the door up. Geez, she's a good actress, but still, making too many rookie mistakes.
"Thanks," I muttered as I walked out. "Uh, I'll come back soon. I'll just walk around for an hour, or maybe even less."
"Stay safe, okay." I nodded, giving her a smile as a chill ran through my spine. This woman is terrifying, for all I know she could be sending someone to follow me a couple minutes after I go out.
But it's fine, I just need to find the post office and send a letter back home telling them where I am, and hopefully someone will come and fetch me.
I walked along the cobblestone path, looking around the town. It looks like everyone is still recovering from the war. I could see that military uniforms are hung up in front of houses and there are also some people with casts, and crutches and also all kinds of bandages walking around. Geez, I think I forgot how harsh the war was.
I walked for another ten minutes or so before seeing a banner with the sign of an envelope on it. Bingo, I think that's exactly what I am looking for.
I made my way towards the building and opened up the door, the bell of the front door chimed as I went inside. The operator smiled at me from the front desk, I'm pretty sure he has no idea who i am, right?
"Hi, sir." He beamed. "You seem to be new to town. But yet again, I just started working here anyways. How may I help you?" Ha, luck must be on my side.
