On this night, the guests didn't sleep as deeply as the night before.

Perhaps it was because they only took a few small bites at dinner, or perhaps it was because they knew what had happened in the castle.

They felt that this place was too spooky. They felt more and more uneasy.

Having such an abrupt scene change from a comedic viewing of the state of the cursed butler and the Duke's temper tantrum, to this eerie and spooky atmosphere... several people couldn't help but shudder.

Not being able to sleep as deeply despite all the wine... they could definitely understand that.

Who would be able to sleep, knowing that they were literally cursed, and that any time someone fucked up and got "punished" by the Duke, it wasn't just them who would suffer under the Duke's resurrection attempts, but other examinees would also suffer the "Black Death" curs as the horrible price of resurrection was offset onto them...

The sensitive nosed Zhou Qi also said that she smelt something. It was stronger than before.

Zhao Jiatong searched the room completely from the bottom of the bed to the wardrobe and the blankets but was unable to find the source.

Some invigilators, including Zhao Jiatong herself, sighed.

They had pretty much established that whatever Zhou Qi "smelt" was most likely something psychological, since she was constantly picking up on something but they were literally unable to find anything...

But they also believed that Zhou Qi really was picking up on something; Zhou Qi really would not have survived so many other exams on her own if she was constantly picking up on something that wasn't there, and other examinees would believe that she was completely delusional.

Though, whether she was smelling the scent of death in the air, a clue that they were missing out on, or something else entirely... they weren't too sure about yet...

Before going to bed, Zhou Qi suddenly leaned against the wall beside the door and sniffed it for a moment before saying: "Sister Tong... It seems to be coming from the wall."

"..."

"The... wall?"

Several people were confused by this.

They doubted there could be anything in the walls... unlike current houses, that usually had false walls between rooms, this was an old house from the 13th century, or maybe even earlier.

The walls here should be fully solid... but they might be hollow, and there weren't always documentaries about secret passageways between the walls in old houses that servants could use to navigate the house to clean around without getting in the way of the owners or guests...

...

Yeah, actually, that could be an issue... though it didn't really seem like the case, and they weren't sure if the thing about servants' hallways was accurate for manors in the 13th century.

Plus, while the doors in the corridor were relatively far apart, their rooms were still very big, so it didn't really seem like there was any extra room in the wall between the two guest rooms for any secret passageways.

Hearing this, Zhao Jiatong's hair stood up.

"Xiao Zhou, tell me honestly what field you worked in." Zhao Jiatong said jokingly to try and ease the atmosphere.

"What kind of field of work would result in such a sensitive nose?" 058 also joked.

"No idea." Zhao Jiatong shrugged.
