"So.. will he come?"
My head whipped at the speed of lightning upon hearing the question coming from the sink where my mother was doing the dishes.
I didn't answer her directly, my head was debating on what tone should I be using and what kind of expression should I put on my face.
It was a simple talk we had during breakfast. I told her what Sangyeon was up to and his plan to bring me out to the newly opened bookstore. She attentively listened until the point I spilled about the coincidence of the store being situated in the same area Kevin lives in.
Seemed like the last point caught her interest the most. The amount of attention she gave was beyond anything I'd seen from her before.
I should be glad if she likes Kevin right?
"He said, he's available," I shrugged, sipping on my orange juice from the breakfast course today.
Mother closed the tap, turning her body facing me by the counter, her eyes darted on my half-eaten toast on the plate.
Oh no.
Every time we were having meals together - either at home or outside, she often complained about me being such a slow eater. Always complaining about how tiring it would be for her to wait for me.
But, I must say that I was fast enough. Among my friends, I am the fastest. So, whose fault was this now?
"Does he know where to go?" she questioned, taking a seat across me. "Or do you and Sangyeon need to fetch him at home?"
My shoulders fell as I stared at her, unfazed. My left cheek looked swollen due to the excessive amount of food stored inside my mouth, all words coming out sounded like a mumble.
"It's his place mother, of course, he knows."
"It's not that long since he lived there. Who knows if he's still adapting?"
At that, I scoffed and refused to retaliate any further. My mother and her overthinking were always beyond my imagination.
Constant texts coming in on my phone rested not too far from me almost shaking the whole table like an earthquake and I definitely couldn't ignore it. If I didn't respond to it or put it on silent mode real quick, I probably had to deal with a noise complaint from this lady across me.
Slightly giggled as I read the text spamming in the group chat where I spilled the news about Sangyeon's offer, one from Faye read 'Congratulations babe! You're shining now' while Chanhee replied 'Smells like there will be a date later'.
He probably had googled up the address to find out that it was in Kevin's area or Kevin had told him about it. But I doubted the second option.
Another text from Evelyn stated 'You make me want to find a green dress too' with a cute emoji at the end that made me cackle the loudest. I told them that I'd be wearing green - not the olive green dress, the shade had been my comfort color these days.
Now it was funny how my closet was now full of varieties of green, something I would avoid in the past. To say that something had triggered me was not the issue, the feeling of wanting to try it suddenly came uninvited.
A ding with a message box appeared on top of my screen.
"What?" I queried as Kevin chose to send me a private message instead of joining the group chat.
Curiosity taking me wholly, I clicked on the notification just to have my eyes widened.
'What kind of green?' - it read.
