The weekend came by in a blink which meant, the house that usually was quiet would soon fill in with so much pleasant noises.

Usually, I would've turned into a mad lady whenever we had guests over because I just didn't know how to interact well.

But my guests were an exception - they weren't strangers, they were the same humans I'd been meeting for over 10 years.

Faye had arrived more earlier than the rest. She even helped preparing the table in which my mother kept complimenting her for being too nice like her own daughter had never done so.

Typical mother.

I then declared that we should take a break in my bedroom before the real chaos happened. Because once it started, there was no turning back.

And by all means it defined that we would not do anything.

Faye was sprawling on my bed after raiding my bookshelf, choosing a book that had triggered her interest, while I was at my desk, scrolling on my phone.

"I nearly cried," suddenly she announced, tossing the book aside. "Girl, your writing just gave me chills."

I abandoned my phone as well, turning my head towards the bed where I glanced at the book laid on my mattress.

"Ah," I said, rather calm as if I'd read her mind to know well what exactly she meant.

The book she read was my first work that had given me the title of an author. It was a tragic love story with a bit of forbidden love thingy but eventually ended with a happy ending.

The feeling when I knew that it was acceptable to many readers out there was vivid in my head. It gave some sorts of unspoken encouragement for me to do better in my job and in my life later.

"Somehow, the male lead reminds me to Kevin," Faye said with a raise of one eyebrow on her pale skin. I chuckled, shooting her daggers in return. "So... how are you and him? Still talking?"

Faye was now lying flat on her stomach, demanding for an answer.

"Well, yes. Last night we did exchange few texts," I informed.

She dramatically gasped, covering her opened mouth with her palm as her legs moved up and down, not in the same direction.

"What did he say?"

"He told me he got the job - still within this area," I paused, looking up at the ceiling as if I tried to recall the conversation we shared. "Nothing much, he loves to share his daily routine."

"Oh.My.God," Faye once again gasped, this time she already sitting on the spring mattress that made her slightly bounce.

I gave her a questioning look which soon turned into an annoying one.

"I know what you're thinking but no, nothing. We're just friends," I declared. "At least for now."

"Ivy..." her, calling me with that tone really made my hair stand. "You kn-"

Faye didn't get the chance to voice out her opinion when roaring engine was then heard from my porch. I scooted to my window, glancing through it, a smile then spread on my face as I saw them.

"Evelyn and Jacob are here," I said and the pitter patter of footsteps erupted on my floor as Faye rushed towards me to peek. "They're the most beautiful couple, I guess."

"Exactly," she confirmed, puffing in jealousy as Jacob helped his girl out from the car. "My long distance relationship is killing me."

I gave her a judging look.
