It was bittersweet to put an end.
The amount of stress I had throughout the journey to finish the manuscript was something unforgettable, nonetheless, I learned a lot during the process.
But every start must have its end.
And here was one.
Putting a full stop to my last line, I heaved a sigh as I leaned against the chair, staring at the whole page filling in the laptop screen.
I did it.
I made it to take a new path as a writer.
I am back.
The pitter-patter of footsteps was heard approaching the door of my room. I instantly turned my head towards the direction, expecting to see someone whom I'd asked to come back after half an hour while I did the typing.
"Ivy...." the female called as she pushed the door open rather slowly, probably worried if she would be disturbing. But a smile was soon outstretched on her face as our eyes met, and I did the same. "Done?"
"Done," I confirmed, pushing the chair backward before I rose to my feet. "Let's go now."
Faye extended her hand forward, beckoning me to reach it. I obeyed with a heart full of giddiness, we were then trailing down the stairs, hand in hand.
Coincidentally my mother came out from the kitchen, slightly taken aback to see us fully charged. Her mouth hung apart, attempting to say something, but I sealed it back by placing a kiss on her cheek.
"I'll try to be home as early as I can," I moved past her to the front door, waving her goodbye in the process. "Bye, Mother."
She looked confused. Who wouldn't be when their daughter who'd left home miserable suddenly came back full of brightness? I was sure that she felt blinded by looking at me constantly.
Faye didn't question much about my disappearance. She just played along with me, diligently enchanting 'thank God' in her head for sending me back home. Not only in this body but also in the same mindset she'd seen when we first met more than a decade ago.
But one thing she was curious about.
"Didn't you say Sangyeon wanted to tell you about the admin of Moonlight?"
I shrugged, enjoying the scene outside from the passenger seat of her car. "Suddenly he said, it's not important. So, he didn't tell."
She flinched, hands gripping the steering wheel tight.
My reaction that day was the same as hers. Mine was uglier - face scrunched up, brows furrowed and lips partly agape. And my mind was whispering some curses to be thrown on that said male.
Lucky I didn't or I probably wouldn't be seeing the light by now.
"So.... are you okay now?" she was hesitant, I could tell but I couldn't figure which aspect should I be not okay.
"You know, there are a lot of changes we can bring into our lives. But, there must be something that won't change," I glanced over at her who did the same cautiously before focusing on the road back. "So you have to live with it. By hook or by crook."
Faye huffed.
"Sometimes it's killing me to talk with you."
"What? Why?"
"Because you're always about metaphor, quotes and something complicated but soothing to be heard."
We laughed afterward. Her complaint did make my day but her reasoning somehow had touched my heart.
