Life is unpredictable.

One moment we are happy, smiling ever so broadly like sadness is never a thing. But the next moment we start to wail, getting discouraged at every little misfortunes occurred.

Maybe it is not the misfortune that makes us cry, but the reality. The reality which screams loudly into our ears, telling that happiness is temporary.

I slammed the full stop button on my laptop at the last word I typed, leaning against my seat as Evelyn came to the table I occupied with Daisy and Faye, placing a plate of macaroon.

The table was round, so I could clearly see each faces from each angles. Faye across me looked somehow furious as she eyed her phone screen, Daisy was watching some random videos while Evelyn was blinking, didn't know with who to interact.

I straightened my posture, pushing my glasses up closer to my eyes. It probably had been sliding down my nose bridge while I was working my head earlier.

For a brief moment, something from inside me was jumping around, ready to slip out from my mouth. But, I was hesitant to voice it out.

What would my friends' reactions be if I say this aloud?

Taking a deep breath, I'd found the courage and eventually announced, "I've decided."

"Oh shut up!" Daisy enraged, startling me from the core. She seemed to notice how I flinched from the side of her eye that she immediately clarified. "Not you honey."

"Babe, where did you keep the new chocolate powder?" Jacob was calling Evelyn from the register, with a pleading face nobody could resist.

Great, just great.

"It's in the cabinet," Evelyn replied before shooting me another look. "What did you say Ivy?"

Sighing, I tried to repeat, "I've de-"

"Are you kidding me?" Faye recorded a voice message that sounded furious. The slam on the screen was a bit hard, I feared it might break. "Sorry, I'm launching a war."

"Can I.... continue?" I looked at each of them, asking for an approval like I was in the middle of presentation. As they nodded, and it seemed like no distractions would come interfering us again, I added. "I'll pursue my old feeling for Kevin."

No response.

It seemed like they needed some times to process every words I said or was it too unrealistic?

"Oh my god, sis!" Evelyn was the first to react, clapping her hands like a seal but then sniffle like she would cry anytime sooner. "You know you have my support. Fully."

"This is so random", Faye pondered, blinking every so often. "I mean why?"

"What do you mean by why?" I retaliated, lightly pushing my laptop screen inward to have it closed. "I thought you will be happy?"

"Don't get me wrong," Faye raised both of her hands in defense. "It's too sudden. Did something happen on that day you two met?"

"You met Kevin?" Daisy questioned, slightly disbelief. "Okay, why never did I get informed?"

"You didn't check your phone I guess?" I sarcastically answered, holding myself from the eye roll.

Daisy was known for that - someone who rarely responded to chats. So, nothing was questionable here.

"Anyways, we did talk that day," I added, my lips twitched. "A lot actually."

"Spill," the three of them said in unison.
