"i don't think i want to release this song."

the entirety of y/n's team stared at her, amused at her words. they certainly hadn't expected her to tell them she wanted to scrap one of the best songs on her upcoming album.

"what?" her manager asked. "you're joking, right? we spent so long finalizing this tracklist and deciding the singles and you want to remove a song now?"

y/n sighed deeply as she rubbed her temple. "i'm not going to release a song that's about billie."

"but this changes everything. we've already scheduled the release of this as a single, we can't change things now."

but y/n only shook her head. "i can't release this."

"the public doesn't even know you've broken up yet. you can release this song and then tell them you've broken up."

"i don't care if the public doesn't know. i'm not releasing a song that's about how much i love billie. end of story." y/n said sternly, trying to put her foot down.

but her efforts went to vain because at the end of the meeting, it was decided that she had no choice but to release the song and y/n couldn't help but feel like the whole world was going against her. first billie, now her team.

she just wanted a fucking break.

she walked over to her car and sighed shakily, her head hanging low as it hit the steering wheel. this short break from filming was supposed to be relaxing, not exhausting. at this rate, she couldn't wait to get back to new york.

she'd had a really hard day. it was the first day after their break up and she hated the thought of waking up every morning knowing billie was no longer hers. the number of times she'd wanted to break down today was insane.

but she couldn't. she had to be okay. there was no room in her schedule for being sad. she had too much shit to get done.

she sighed softly as she tried keeping her emotions in check and turned on her phone, checking her texts. she'd received a notification saying billie had left her a voicemail and she'd been ignoring it all day. because everytime she contemplated listening to it, she remembered that billie broke her heart.

and she was in no mood to have her heart broken again.

so she decided against listening to it for now, knowing she had no time for a break down. she swiftly replied to a few of her texts before driving to a restaurant, wanting to make a quick stop there for lunch before a photoshoot for her album.

upon reaching the restaurant, the first thing she'd noticed was the billboard above it, displaying billie.

of course. what else had she expected? this was the downside of dating a star. billie was everywhere, whether she liked it or not.

she stared at the billboard for a few seconds before shaking her head with a sigh, heading inside the restaurant. thankfully, her sunglasses and hoodie helped her hide the fact that she was y/n, so she managed to avoid being noticed.

she took a seat at one of the tables and buried her face in the menu, exhaling deeply. she analysed the items as she tried making up her mind as to what she wanted to have. but her mind kept wandering to the voicemail that billie had sent her, beyond curious as to what it could be about.

on one hand, she really wanted to know what billie wanted to say to her. she wanted to know why her ex-girlfriend had called her a day after their break-up.

but on the other hand, did y/n really want to go through all those emotions again? hearing billie's voice would trigger everything, no matter what it was that she wanted to say. could she really afford to be hurt more than she already has been?
