y/n breathed out a shaky breath as she looked up at billie, standing up so as to speak to her properly. "billie." she whispered, her voice breaking.

"hi." billie said, her face softening as she noticed the dry tears staining y/n's cheeks. "i uhm, i know you'll miss shark so feel free to come over whenever."

y/n nodded slowly, hesitantly, trying to figure out if she was actually being serious or if she was saying it for courtesy sake. she let out a sigh as she looked down at the box she was about to load into her car, bending down to pick it up. "i should get going."

but right before she could lift the box, billie stopped her by grabbing her arm softly, making y/n look at her with furrowed brows. "wait." billie whispered before pulling her into a hug, y/n's eyes growing wide at the sudden contact.

she certainly had not expected that.

billie's arms wrapped tightly around y/n and the actress slowly brought her hands around billie, holding her close as she basked in the moment. god, she loved billie's hugs more than anything.

"i'm sorry." billie said quietly as she pulled y/n closer, her head resting in the crook of y/n's neck. "i really am."

y/n felt her heart hurt all over again as she tried pulling herself together, wanting nothing more than to cry or scream or do anything to make the pain go away. but she couldn't. she didn't want billie to see her cry.

so she let out a shaky, tired sigh as she held billie tight. "is there anything i can do to change your mind?" she asked desparately, hoping to have another chance with her. "i- i'll quit my job if that's what you want. i can do that if it'll make you stay."

"what?" billie pulled away immediately as she looked at y/n with furrowed eyebrows. "you can't be serious."

"i'm dead serious." y/n said as she looked into billie's eyes. "i swear on my life i'll quit if you want me to."

"y/n," billie began softly as she grabbed her hands, interlacing their fingers. "you can't do that. i won't let you do that. not for me."

"billie," y/n said in the same tone as she held her hands tight. "i don't think you understand just how much i love you. you mean so much more to me than some stupid job."

"but you've worked so hard for that job for so long. you've made so many sacrifices to get your dream role."

"and i'm willing to make so many more for you." y/n said and billie's heart hurt at those words. this girl was willing to give up the life she's always wanted just to stay with her. but billie couldn't accept that. y/n deserved this job and a better partner.

"i'm not letting you quit. i can't let you quit."

"why not?" y/n asked as she squeezed billie's fingers. "i'd do anything for you. you know that."

"y/n you can't- i-" she stuttered as she tried finding the right words. she let out a long breath as she composed herself, shaking her head. "it's not fair for you to quit just for me. i'd never forgive myself if you lost your dream job just because i'm too demanding."

"and i'd never forgive myself for letting you go so easily."

"y/n.." billie trailed off as she sucked in a deep breath. she shook her head, breathing out nervously as she spoke. "i'm not letting you quit."

"then come with me." y/n said silently as she looked billie straight in the eyes.

"what?"

"come with me to new york." she spoke. "stay with me there. we won't have to do long distance."
